Anybody live and have horses in Spain?

What's it like, how does it work etc.

A mate of mine has horse in Spain, just outside benidorme. Her hubby runs a hotel there.. Horse is on a small stable yard, she has a large stable with small outside turnout with a rush/reed roof on it for shade(10mx10m) the ground is sandy, and she can use a paddock at night if she wants, her horse went overland with her lorry 2 year ago in January, so he acclimatized slowly though she said he did get tired easily if she rode in height of summer, her horse is Anglo Arab, so could cope with high temp bit better than the fell pony she left on loan in Wales. She pays about 200 euro a month for livery, the hay is much coarser than ours, but she gets chaff and nuts locally for feed. She gets her supplements by post from uk. He stays indoors most of the day in summer, with free access to the covered turnout, then goes in the paddock at night, but the grazing is poor, so hay is fed all year. It took her 2 days to drive there, she stopped off at two pre arranged places, one near Spanish border and another near English Coast prior to going on the ferry. .horse was stabled and she slept in lorry.
