As title really. Is it worth the money for a horse with a sensitive mouth or would vaseline on the corners of the mouth do the same job?
Anybody use bit butter?

Love it it seems to stay on the skin longer than Vaseline great for people too !

stays on longer but does the same job as vasaline but bit butter smells better cant justify spending out on BB when vasaline comes in a massive tb for 99p and does the same job!

I use it for a horse who's mouth splits - he loves it and it really does make a difference!

I use it and it lasts forever. My mare can be fussy so I rub it along the bit as she loves it.

maybe, but a £15 tub lasts about 3 seasons and smells yummy! Also use it as lip balm to wipe off my hands - not sure I would want to do that with pile cream!!!

I've tried it & wasn't massively impressed. Elizabeth Arden 8 hr cream was the only thing that worked when mine has split his mouth.

Yes I use it. As mentioned above, yes it is pricey but it does last ages. My horse likes it and licks and chews far more than with just vaseline

and it doesn't dry the skin out as vaseline does unless you keep coating it constantly. Prep H is a very good lip balm for humans as well...... I generally keep a tube in my hunt coat pocket as one of my horses is a precious flower and gets skin rubs really easily. I generally don't get many takers when I offer it as a chap stick though!

Seems to stay on much better than vaseline and you only need a tiny bit.
Not sure it helps with mouthing up but the corners of his mouth are definitely much softer and not as flaky as when I used vaseline.

Yes, on horse but am addicted to the smell and you only use a little at a time. Not tried Vaselin tho'

Opinions are like bum holes, everyone has one.
I use it and really like it. Better consistency that Vaseline. Has helped my horse who splits his mouth.

Mine doesn't spread that easily compared to vaseline but I think that's why it is better as it doesn't rub off as quickly.

I bought it 2 weeks ago and LOVE it. It is much nicer than Vaseline and my horse likes it too. Little goes long way and smells delicious too. I will for sure buy it again.

Ive used it and like it a lot - vaseline tended to make my girls sensitive lips worse!
I have pondered on wether buying something like carmex would be as successful and if it would work out cheaper?
to be honest though the bit butter lasts that long it doesnt really matter!

I bought a tub back in Feb and use it on two 5/6 days a week and just had to buy a new tub last Sunday.
One of them has such a sensitive mouth (very thick lips) that even the raised writing on a happy mouth can rub
Her lips are much softer with less cracking after 7 months of bit butter than the previous 18 months of vaseline. She's also more willing to take the bit whereas before she'd throw her head up and clamp her gob shut.

Waitrose sell something called 'Baby bottom butter'!! (I know). Its not as thick as the bit butter but its about £3 a pot and smells of vanilla. Horses seem to like it. I also have to add that although the bit butter is expensive it does work and lasts ages

I wouldn't have thought carmex would be great - it's quite a strong tingle it gives, I don't think horses would take to it, especially if they have sore mouth.
My horse has a very sensitive mouth and I have subjected him to many potions, the only thing he loves is bit butter and is happy to let me put it on. I have had my pot for 7 months and hardly dented it! Going to try elisabeth arden 8 hour cream though, I can see that working.
