My filly is a little tricky to say the least, she us unpredictable anyway but much worse around her seasons.

Has anybody used Oestress with any success, and if so what were the main symptoms you used it for?

Thanks!

I dont bother with Oestress, far too expensive.

I keep it natural and use Agnus Castus, you can buy online in powder for less than £10 per kilo and lasts a few months.

I use it to stop the squirting/squealing and mareishness and havent noticed a single season since shes been on it (since April).

Also combine this with Bachs rescue remedy, but thats just personal pref.

pm if you would like website address. :)

I feed Agnus Cactus from Pegasus Health, much cheaper and more effective!

I use it on my mare who has had 2 foals, and since foaling her seasons are ridiculous - screaming to all the other horses and practically unrideable - shes a competition horse (competing at BD Medium level) so obviously I needed something to control her behaviour.

I put her on agnus cactus after reading up about it online and she is now much calmer and seasons are unnoticeable. I did take her off it recently (tub ran out and I forgot to re-order) and within a week she was fully in season and screaming again. Straight back on it and now I have a calm horse again.

Before she had foals she never even showed in season!

Mare weighs around 600kg and she gets 1 level scoop am and pm (I did initially do a loading dose of 2 scoops am and pm for 7 days).

I bought a £21 tub of Oestress and it lasted less than 2 weeks!!!!! after 4/5 days though I did see a difference in her

I also now feed Agnus Castus. A £10 bag is going to last be around 2 months I think.

Yes I use it and think it works well for my mare. She had a foal a few years ago so knows what its all about. I noticed a difference when I once took her off it! Shes on it all year round and has 1 scoop a day. The 1kg tub lasts 100 days from memory, so works out around £10 per month, worth it for me. Will double check that time span but Im sure thats whats stated on the tub. I wouldnt take her off it now.

I used it for my mare for a couple of years and doesn't need it anymore. Worked miracles and really quickly. My mare was just difficult when in season, didn't want to be saddled, really tense through her back once you were on and totally over reacted to the smallest thing like a car driving past LOL I would highly recommend it.

I use it & notice a big difference. I use the liquid type & after the initial loading dose use 25 mls a day . I think it's well worth it.

I've just started to use it for my 3 year old who is extremely hormonal and has even started producing milk - only been on it five days, so not sure of the results yet. Vet told me that a lot of youngsters have hormonal issues and that they generally grow out of it as they get older....

Well I seriously doubt that there's actual evidence for the stuff. I particularly like the way it is claimed it works for riggy behaviour in geldings as well even though that's caused by different hormones. It seems to be a nutritional supplement with micronutrients and phytonutrients and I suspect the ASA might have something to say about the advertising.
