I need to buy a mask with high UV eye protection. Internet is pointing me towards The Guardian mask which is produced in USA and has a couple of outlets in UK.

Expensive (£75) but well worth it to keep horse alive for years to come. Horse has had squamous cell carcinoma succesfully removed from 3rd eyelid and prognosis is good as long as eye protected.

Grateful for any experience or thoughts. Thanks

No experience but if it makes you feel any better I'd be thinking the same as you, £75 would be worth it IMO and there's some time before the summer to save up.

Thank you Yasandcrystal.

Ellie-e thank you, I looked at a number of masks that are generally available and my worry is they only offer 60-70% protection, the guardian is 95% protection.

The horse lives out 24/7, so if we have a summer the sun will be bearing down on her all the time, plus UV damage happens even if the day is not too bright.

There is no pigment left in the eye that has been operated on and most of the 3rd eyelid has gone so I need to provide the very best protection possible. Vets have suggested Guardian, I need to be careful this sounds like advertising ?

I wonder if the lower level mask would be ok on dull days ?

I looked into getting one for mine who had uveitis from what i can remember you can change the disks in the guardian masks, I emailed the UK stockist and both were very helpful. Maybe worth speaking to them
