Anybody watching Andy Murray?

Cant stand the bloody man, and I really dont like his rather unattractive displays of aggression, be it in extasy or dissapointment. Mouth like a square.

He must be wonderful to work with as he has sacked so many trainers and managers, but i suppose mighty murray knows best.

Maybe they left? Bloody sure I would`nt want to drag myself to work with that creature every day.Bitter old sods? Hmm ,if that what it means to see him for what he is..I`m OK with that.

He lost too many supporters after his "Anyone but England" comment during the World Cup, and it doesn't matter how good he is at the game, if he offends people they just won't support him again.

Plus the fact that he looks like a microphone with a square mouth, that'll always go against him ;)

so why write"load of bitter old sods on the forum?"now if we all agreed with you, youwouldnt have written that, would you!!

Because there had been so many posts/threads along such lines yesterday.

I really can't see why you dislike him so much when he's clearly better at tennis than a heck of a load of people. If thats not being slightly bitter or...soddy then I don't know what is.

;)

Oh I spose he isnt all bad !!!!! at least he didnt wreck the economy like his
fellow countryman.... there you go..... a positive andy murray comment for ballance:D

I'm wondering if, for those of us old enough to remember him, we might have forgotten "The Brat". John McEnroe's behaviour, and general demeanour, were considered less than perfect, whilst he was on the circuit, but now that he returns to Wimbledon, annually, he comes over as being courteous, amusing and generally gentile!!

I suppose that we all react in different ways to pressure, and at the top of any sport, that pressure must be immense.

I remember the Wimbledon final, between McEnroe and Borg, and though Mc entered the court with little public support, he left with his fair share.

mymare, it seems that as he lost, you can have him back. We don't want him!! :D

Alec.

in the days of McEnroe Borg(my absolute hero) Connors, Pat Cash and the like, it was more showmanship but also the will to win, now its business with faceless characters who unless they win go sour.

Gee thanks, you're too kind...!!:P

There is no doubt he's pretty good at tennis. But that itself is not enough to make me support him. As a tennis star, he is in the public eye and I cannot support someone who so often comes across as moaning, ungrateful, whinging, huffy and generally characterless - his public image counts for a lot. If I was a harcore tennis fan then I might support him because he's really good at tennis, but I'm not - I'm a recreational tennis watcher with a vague understanding of the rules, so for me, the 'other side' of the tennis players is quite important, I look out for how they conduct themselves and watch all their interviews and notice when they swear at the crowd. He's the number 1 we have so he ought to be setting a good example to the young 'uns that'll follow him, and I don't think he does that. He may be good at tennis, but he wins himself no fans with how he conducts himself and what he says - he's the picture of a dour, bleak Scotsman to me, which is a shame because I would like to support Britain's number 1.

I think he might turn out to be a bit like Tony McCoy (oh how it pains me to say that :p). He was completely driven and focused when he was at the start of his career, he came across badly to the public who thought he was grumpy and sour when he didn't win. Then he got older and wiser and someone probably said to him "Look, AP, you need to buck up your public image and win some supporters here" and now he's a smiley, jokey guy with a family with a great public image and just won SPOTY. As he gets older and more mature, the same will probably happen to Murray.

Until then, I shall support the polite, lovely Federer :D

Bit late now, but I was really disappointed in Murray's performance:( I try hard to support him, after all he is British, but I think he's his own worst enemy, what was all that swearing about:mad::mad: It is such a bad reflection on our country when one of our few world class sportsmen behave like that and as the commentator said there are young ball girls and boys standing near to him. So many people were unkind about Tim Henman's performances (like he was SUCH a bad player:confused:) but his manners on court were mostly impeccable as is Federer.

I agree with everything the previous poster said except Henman was an absolute brat when he was young too, I did post before that he was thrown out of Wimbledon early on in his career for hitting a ball boy! John M did a great deal of harm to the game due to hundreds of mini John Ms who appeared on the junior tennis circuit here in Britain...only difference is that they didn't have the fantastic talent to go with it! The racket manufactures must have made a fortune tho as rackets were smashed to smithereens on a regular basis. Maybe Andy will improve with age but I'm not holding my breath on that 1.

Silu, dont you think all that bad behaviour in the old days were more memorable and entertaining rather than watching a scot with such a lack of character bar cursing his way through a match, and even in interviews he is still dour!!!

Oh I found Mc`s outbursts amusing , it was a joy to see umpires confronted by behaviour they had clearly never ever envisaged at the Holy of Holys ..Wimbledon. Mc though ,was, and is, a good looker, whereas this pasty stick insect is ugly and charmless in equal amounts.
Nah..into the Six Nations now!!:D:D

A girl after my own heart, bring on the rugby. Being in Wales and having 3 welshmen in the house your lot won over our useless gang- thought Italy get better every year and will be a force to contend with, in time, nothing much to say about Scotland- perhaps the addition of Murray to the team will help-- LOL.
