Well birthday next month and since I don't need anything in particular I was thinking I might get a nice girth for the little one. Don't know what to go for - I would like plenty of elbow room, preferably leather but not essential. I was looking at the Fairfax ones as my friend loves hers but they don't make them for ponies (discrimination - equal rights for different heights!! :)) Pony doesn't get rubbed and isn't girthy or anything. Just want a nice one which allows him to move - black and in 18". If anyone can find anything fab??? Up to £500 to spend but obviously don't want to spend it all on the girth as I'm sure I can find a couple of other things to ask for too.....

I had this issue. I ended up getting a Paul Jones monoflap girth as was one of the only nice leather ones I could find in 18" and brown. I think in black you may have more choice. That said its a lovely girth. I also looked at the Exselle Integra girth too.

I LOVE Torsion dressage girths. I have a beautiful leather moon-shaped dressage one. It's so soft and supple. But they are a nightmare to get hold of! Like rocking horse poop!

I've just had a look at the PJ website and they look really nice. Which one did you go for? There's a couple of different ones?

For that kind of money I'm pretty sure any girth manufacturer will make a custom made one for you! Why not chose one you like (Fairfax?) and ask.

I got mine from Retford Saddlery. It's a jumping one as I wanted to be able to attach my martingale. They had 18" and 16" in stock. They posted it out quickly too.

Fairfax do pony girths, they are the narrow gauge ones but only needed if the gap on their cheat is less then 20cm I think.

I have one for my chap and its amazing, also recommended you go up a size when buying so you would need a 20" anyway. :)

They are fabulous girths made a huge difference with my chap.

I went on their website and they say the narrow guage ones start at 22" :(

NEW Narrow Gauge Dressage Girth - Black or Brown in 22”, 24”, 26”, 28”, 30"

I think I would still need a 18" as his current 18" is on hole 5 on each side so is a bit long as it is.

The Paul Jones ones come in 16" and 18" but I've never seen one in "real life".
