Anyone been to Somerford Park

I live not far away, and we take our pointers there occasionally for a hoon around the farm ride or the xc course, it's a really nice place to go, the jumps are all really well built and inviting, and it's great fun. Quite expensive though i think, but then i don't pay when we go, my boss does;-)

I went last year with Patches and a friend on her horse.

LOVED IT!!!! It's very well set up from the amount of parking to the ride and then the hosing off area afterwards! Well worth the money to go around...which I seem to remember was about £12 or £14.

Jumps very well built, all had sand take off and landing points. There's a water fence as well as a stream (I say stream ..... it's very deep!) that you can walk horses through to cool off. The ride does go around the edge of the proper competitive XC course in places and those fences are AMAZING!!!!! Took us about 1 3/4hours to get around and we did quite a bit of cantering in places.

oh boy it does sound good, think I will definately book and go on this one with sis, love the picture of them riding through the water. If I do book would anyone else be interested in a mini HHO meet?

I've been round the farm ride a couple of times - it's great! The surface is good and well looked after, most of the jumps on the ride aren't too big although there are a few big uns.
The XC schooling course is also really good, lots of jumps, fab water complex. Both highly recommended.

I'd come along to a mini meet!

not sure if I'm confident enough to go round the XC schooling fences, thought I might just do the farm ride and sus it out first. I don't think its too far away as I live in Stafford. God I wish it was Summer..................

cool

on their website they say they have a summer and winter farm ride but don't say when they swap over? any ideas? Will definately book the farm ride ASAP and then if I am brave enough perhaps the XC Schooling fences

Do you have to wear a body protector for these as I have one but sis doesn't?

There is still lots on the farm ride, including steps, ditches, long galloping stretches, the whole complex is fantastic and the sort of place I want to have when I win my many millions!

Am going there tomorrow for a s/j and xc clinic (xc jumps in an arena not on the xc course)

Body protector is not required, optional.

Some wore them when I went, including me, but plenty weren't.

I'd love a mini meet up, but would have to check the brakes in new bit. Patches can some time take off with me in the company of strange horses!

Can't remember if it's just off Junction 17 or 18 for you of the M6.

Not far anyway. Takes me about 25 mins to get there from my house.

am so not jealous, am so not jealous, am so not jealous.................
Pidge came from a hunt yard in Ireland so knows what to do with ditches etc even if I don't

but don't know if Sunny has ever done any XC fences, though being a cob he does have far more energy when out than when schooling

I take it they are quite forgiving for us wimps then?

brilliant, we have J13 and J14 in Stafford so shouldn't take too long on the motorway! Brakes we have no brakes when jumping
smirk.gif
me thinks I will have to swap snaffle for something a tad stronger for this

would you be interested in a meet up then? Week day or weekend preference? I have lots of hols this year as after being to Oz am not going on a big holiday this year.
