I just wondered if anyone on here had any experience of buying from one of the dealers that I see advertised in various places, that seem to buy in horses from Spain/Portugal to re-sell? Any good/bad experiences/ anyone in particular to avoid?
I live far afield so not easy for me to visit them.
Thanks,

I bought a Luso x from a Lusitano stud in central scotland. They dont advertise much if at all though so you wont have seen them anywhere. My one had been brought over from Portugal sort of on a "favour" basis for a friend of a friend who couldnt afford to keep them apparently. The horse was full of worms when I got him however the other horses there looked in good condition, the stallions were nice. I think he was just ignored unfortunately. He turned out to be a fantastic buy as hes the nicest horse in the world whos taken me to a good level (IMO) competing.

Ive thought about buying a pure bred Luso or Andalusian or even another part bred as they are so nice natured. But I probably wouldnt tend to look at dealers who've brought them over as I feel they are very overpriced as they are still pretty "novel". Id probably try looking for private owners or ones bred here as they tend to be cheaper. If you can afford the crazy prices of most of them then TBH you'd probably be better to go to Spain / Portugal and get one yourself!

I recently transported an imported Luso from Monmouth to the North East. That particular mare belonged to a friend of hers and she was acting as a go between but she bred them herself from her own Luso stallion.

PM me if you would like her details.

I beleive ther is a dealer based in Westbury Wiltshire, I have seen them advertise but can not rember on which site.

My instructor has a lot of dealings with finding people the right horses that are coming in from Portugal and Spain.
If you would like her name and number pls let me know, We know have 5 people with them at my yard!
