Hi all

Just wondered if you purchase something off ebay and it doesn't arrive, can you get your money back? I have paid for a saddle by paypal over 2 weeks ago and not a dickie bird.

Last contact with the seller was the 30th with the address I wanted it posted to. Nothing since, my last 2 emails have had no response.

Appreciate there could be a perfectly reasonable reason for this, but if there isn't can I get my money back :(

I'd give it a bit more time - if it was posted as a standard parcel it could take a while due to the recent adverse weather?

Has the seller marked the item "dispatched" ?

I would also try contacting the seller again before reporting the item as missing on ebay. Can you see the seller's phone number in the order details?

Many sellers will put that they don't take responsibility for items in transit. If it turns out that it was lost in the post, you may be able to claim some of the value back from royal mail, if the seller sends you the proof of postage.

If you are getting no response from the seller open up a dispute with Ebay and PayPal. As quickly as you can. That will either get the seller to finally send the saddle to you or start you on your way to getting a refund from PayPal hopefully.

This, exactly.

Maybe I'm too gullible, thinking that it may be delayed in the post. We have received mail very infrequently recently due to the weather, and things take longer than normal.

I'd be asking them how they sent it and for the tracking info.

I have the other problem... sold a saddle, posted it (via a courier with tracking info etc) and according to the tracking, its been delivered to the buyer... buyer is saying they havent got it!

A point to mention is they may have sent it to the address registered with your paypal as that is the only way they are covered with seller protection.... in the past i have posted saddles to other address if the person has good feedback etc..... in my most recent case they had 0 feedback so it was sent to their registered address.

I'd def check what address you have on your paypal and check there, and also ask for details of how it has been posted.

i had a fal rug that never arrived... i kept on being ignored, then had excuses... i only got it when i opened a dispute so worse case is to go down that route.

Hope you get it sorted!!!

The weather may be holding them up, especially if they are posting from up north. My postman hasn't been for 10 days!!

If this isn't the reason - then I would expect a refund after 28 days

Had this just recently myself. (could be the same person?) I paid quite a lot of money by paypal straight away, waited a week, sent them an email asking when I could expect delivery? Heard nothing from them for another week, so opened a case with ebay. They didn't respond to them either. Had to wait for a while, then you have to escalate the case if you still get nothing back. Mine was just found in my favour and I am waiting for the refund.
It is really horrible though and people like this spoil Ebay for everyone, I know I won't be making any big purchases from there again, unless it's local to me.

On a brighter note, ebay is not as annonymous as people think, and a stern letter on the perils of being a thief was dispatched, not as satisfying as a policeman knocking on the door, but you have to work within your limits I'm afraid.

Hope yours is just the bad weather delaying things though, quite likely at present!
