For those of your bored, who are convinced I can find what I want in my price range, I set you a challenge!

15hh+ (max 15.2 really) 8+ middleweight (absolutely no skinnies!) hunter/cob etc. Sex irrelevant, colour irrelevant (but if you'd like to know I prefer solids!) MUST hack alone, load on anything and be good with farm animals inc dogs. Most other things I am open to. Around £1k preferably and within reasonable distance of South Wales.

Do your worst and thanks in advance.

That is a difficult horse shop, we have one as you describe that we bought for your budget but he was a project and I think we were lucky to find him!

Yeah 2.5 hours is too far. 5 hours round journey and I may have to take a young child with me so the max I could do would be aroud 1hour away really.

How about a Standardbred? There tough as old boots and if you get one that has been ridden as well as driven it'll most likely tick all the boxes. There's loads of 'em in Wales.

Are you on Facebook? There are quite a few groups set up for this sort of thing in South Wales.
Try Horses for Sale or Swap in Cardiff and Vale Horse Tack and Pet sale for starters. There are quite a few others which should pop up as suggestions once you've joined those. There are a lot of cheap horses on the Cardiff one (mostly coloured ill-bred youngsters free to good homes, poor things) but you might get lucky

I have been looking for a long time now on almost all interfaces and failing miserably. I dont think standardbred will be anywhere near the middlweight hunter type I like sadly.

ETA: I have more budget available, but I don't want to spend more than that ideally.

The first h4h one is lovely but with his hock issue I'm just not keen in taking on any more knackered horses. The second is only temporary. But thank you

You'd be surprised. They come in ALL shapes and sizes, from small and stocky to big and athletic, fine-boned, heavier-boned, anywhere from 14.2hh to 17.2hh! Take a look at the Standardbreds for sale or loan page on Facebook, there are a lot of Standies for sale in Wales and like I said they come any which way you want them! Plus they're cheap despite the fact they have an extra gait...more for your money and all that ;)

Standardbreds make fantastic horses, they do come in all different shapes and sizes and are the most versatile honest horses I have ever come across.

I am desperate to get another standie, but they are few and far between up here (or at least I've not found one locally yet)

Are you looking right now? We spoke about it back in the autumn and you said February-ish time? If so then let me have a go, I can find you one I'm sure! :D

Just starting to dip my toe in the water so to speak! As not actually able to do anything till end February (or sooner if the horrid livery at the yard goes quicker!) I will be intouch tho...... But in the meantime if anyone contacts you. Feel free to point them my way!

Have you moved up yet? If so how are you finding droochit Scotland? Ready for the snow this weekend?

It's less about being contacted and more about ringing around once I know the requirements! Call me the personal horse shopper ;)

Not moving until May, so quite merrily enjoying the rain in Wales still!

OP, keep an open mind about the breed (you can contact me via the FB page in my sig if you want me to help out at all - although if you don't want a pacer then I won't be offended...much!)
