I'm doing Q tomorrow as he's very hairy & is going to Area Festivals at Patchetts next weekend. Thankfully I think Spider will prob last a few more weeks.
Clipping mine out tomorrow - he's grown nearly an inch of hair in 3 weeks and sweats up when just walking - ride at 7pm so it's getting chilly when I've finished - ours are at home anyway so no problems nipping out to change rugs if it gets chilly at night.
OH's mare will go a while yet as she doesn't sweat up much (and she's a pain to do)
I'm clipping tomorrow, my lad has been sweating up a lot so it needs to be done, although have been having dilemmas about ti but have decided if i'm going to ride he needs to be comfortable so off it will come! I was going to do it last week but didnt get the chance.
Doing my lad this weekend as although he hasn't got his full winter coat yet he's got a few hunter trials coming up and will just be disgustingly sweatly if I don't clip before them! He's already distinctly sweatier than normal. Might just trace clip the mares at the same time and then can always do them again later if I need to!
I'm trying desperately to hang on for 2 weeks until he's in at night for the winter. He is REALLY hairy though and is sweating like mad when I work him. It's been around 5-6oC at night for a couple of weeks now and he has lost all his summer coat already and is starting to resemble a woolly mammoth. Stupid weather!
Yep!!! (And there are pics in the gallery to prove it
)
I wanted to do it for 2 reasons -
1, now she is in (light) work I have been finding that with the arrival of winter fluff her neck and girth area has become excessively sweaty and
2, I wanted to not only get her use to clippers for when she is older and needs a full clip but also wanted to do it early so its nothing drastic, more of a trim that I can just keep going over every few months rather than leaving her until she had loads of winter coat and taking her by surprise by taking it away then. Does that make sense? Lol!?
