I am determined to get back into my show jacket next year.... I need some inspiration for breakfast from those on the plan.... am bored with boiled eggs lols

I've a long way to go... but have to start somewhere :-)

Hi - I've been loosely following SW since xmas. I generally follow it week days and then have the weekend off. I've lost just over a stone this way which I'm happy with.

Greek yoghurt and fruit or weetabix for breakfast is my go too usually.

The SS books are good for ideas to mix things up a bit.

I'm not a fan of overnight oats though and they seem to be very trendy right now.

A friend of mine is full of praise for SW. Her kitchen was covered in certificates and she said that she found it very motivating to attend group meetings. She also said that the plans were very easy to follow and overall she didn't feel like she was 'on a diet'. However, she has put some of the weight back on recently so I suppose it's like any other sort of weight loss plan in terms of sustainability.
Personally, I don't think I'd like to attend a group, but apparently they do an online only option too.
A work colleague also went to SW and was very slim but she was constantly drinking diet coke and ate a lot of ultra-processed stuff!
Since I found out I was gluten intolerant 18 months ago I've put on a ridiculous amount of weight. I've now opted to go on 5:2, which I've used successfully in the distant past. Unlike SW, I most definitely do feel like I'm on a diet every Tuesday and Thursday! But it worked for me.

I'm gluten intolerant too and have to limit dairy... god getting old is just dull! I last did it when it was red & green days/..... lols but the plan now makes a lot more sense and tbh it's the portion control and awareness of what I am guzzling that i needed to take note of. The group I am in is more like fat friends drama not a happy clappy fake bunch!

Accountability has a huge amount to do with it, its a shame more people don't join in with the SW thread, I can't be the only one doing it and it would be nice to have some accountability.

I did Slimming World and lost a couple of stone. I think the meals plans are very good. I ate of lot of soup, which is dead easy to make, just vegetables in a stock cube and then a stick blender. Humous is good, tins of fish.

Unfortunately I have put back on quite a lot of weight, but I did have the most wretched year possible, so many people dying, so I haven't beaten myself up too much, but I am finding it a bit difficult to find the motivation to get going again.

But it does work, and going to the weekly meetings is essential I think.

I find Sam Gibson very motivating on Facebook. I did SW many many times but always put the weight back in so couldn’t sustain. I try to follow a more Zoe based approach now but still eat too much! Chocolate and carbs are my downfall but you gotta live a little!

Motivation has to be strong! I ve been overweight for 2 decades , and even a weekly weigh in progress with a friend only got me so far. But finding out last year that I could ride side saddle , and knowing that heavy saddle plus my 12 stone was too much for my mare to carry , I had at last the incentive to get going. Only aiming to lose a pound a week , and keeping it sustainable by not 'dieting' , my way has been to still have my biggish breakfasts [ eggs or bacon]and main meal [ eg chicken & veg , with a small amount of choc to finish] , but cut out evening meal and just have eg a few crackers . No snacks, apart from fruit. I lost 1 1/2 stone fairly painlessly, and I am keeping it off by trying to shift the last half stone !

I’ve never been overweight but it is a choice and this is what I do. I have a light lunch as that suits me and I don’t snack. 1 biscuits for “pudding” to get my chocolate hit after meals and I allow myself a chocolate bar at the weekends. I bite a block in half and let it melt in my mouth and more often than not I won’t finish the bar as it’s too much sweetness.
(Massive well done with the weight loss btw. Glad you’ve found a way to keep the weight off that suits you. 😁)

I think my general view on slimming world (and other slimming clubs) is that they work. But often only short term. People (me included, and family members, close friends ) have lost decent amount of weight only to put it back on (and often more) afterwards. So long term I have concluded it’s often not sustainable for many.

Personally I have found an overhaul in mindset, therapy and clean eating (removing as much processed stuff and eliminating added sugar) plus reduced carb and increased protein to be by far the most effective and sustainable. It seems to reduce the addiction like symptoms.

and this is exactly why I have signed up for 12 weeks to break habits, see some results and kick my arse along the motivation path. It has already been an eye opener.... although hubby has decided to help drink all the red wine by himself to limit temptation (insert multiple swear words here)

12 weeks is relatively short term though in life/weight loss terms I think that’s what IHW would have been referring to. People should definitely do what suits and I don’t think SW would work for me, when doing endurance events that require carbs it shows how easily I get back on the sugar train so the odd treat can have much bigger ramifications for me too. It was definitely easier managing weight loss in lockdown though, no eating with friends 😅, well only Nando’s and that was permitted (PT also Nando’s fan prob helped!) good luck :)
