I need a new floor in my (new to me) Bateson Ascot, currently the old style wood.

Am undecided on whether to just replace like for like, as my brother in law is a very experienced carpenter/builder and could easily do that. Alternative have the plastic/metal floor put in, which to be honest is what I am leaning towards, as the trailer has to “live out” on the top of a hill, so gets a bit weather worn.

Have had a quote from a Bateson dealer for £512.50 (incl. parts, labour & VAT) to refit the whole floor including the front bit where the horses don't stand.

To get the plastic/metal floor kit from Bateson direct is £275 (incl. VAT).

My question is has anyone done a DIY fit of these plastic floors to a Bateson themselves? How easy is it – as I say my brother in law is a very good craftsman, but I don’t want to cause him tons of work and trouble if it is a pain of a job to do and would rather pay the extra to the dealer.

How did you get on replacing your floor? DIY or dealer, plastic or metal? If not too cheeky, how much did it cost in the end?
