Clothes wise?
blush.gif

I mean, i look nice for competitions with white breeches, gaiters, shirt and jacket etc.

But everyday

well.....

I rotate between 3 pairs of crappy jods/breeches none of which fit particularly well, 2 pairs are cotton based (so freezing in winter) and made for midgets as when hoicked up so i can bend my knees they come to just below my knee meaning i then have to wear knee high socks....
frown.gif

I wear old tshirts and tops, random ones.

My jumpers are generally old hand me downs from my parents
blush.gif

I have one decent jacket that had a fleece inner coat, the fleece inner coat B managed to lose for me

My ariat boots, the zips are broken

I just feel like such a scruffy waster.

Tell me about it - i've had my mountain horse boots now for 7 years and I don't think they will survive much longer !! Everything is just so expensive and something else always seems to come up like a nice new shiny rug etc instead of something for me !

I buy cheap and cheerful!
I look the part but it don't cost the earth!
Ive just bought a tweed jacket 2nd hand that looks brand new for £35!
The most expensive jods ive bought are the bright blue and brown 'hacked off' ones that cost about £35, and they are hipster so they are really comfy!

tell me about it, I wear my plain navy jods to the stables with an old t-shirt or top and my harry hall jacket, I just know I'm going to get dirty so why where decent stuff? Even if I do I always end up looking like I've been through a hedge backwards! I always tidy up for shows and lessons, don't think I'll ever look chic!

My daughter told me the other day, that the seat of my jods are completely see through - oh the shame!
The rest of me is not much better, the zip on my jacket is stuck so I have to climb into it, the toe caps in my boots are dented, and the laces have snapped and now only do up half way, I seem to have got tack cleaner on my jumpers, which hasnt come out in the wash......oh I could go on, but think you are all disgusted enough already.

My horses all have lovely smart rugs though!

COMPLETE opposite, I wear a pair of bobbly breeches that are really baggy & ugly that originally cost £15 in the sale a couple of years ago or primark jeans... my boots are about 8 years old & were cheapos to start off with & i wear tops that are too ugly to be seen in "normal" circs...

yet Horse has a gorgeous Ideal saddle, 2 bridles & four rugs - one of which is a coolex i bought a week ago - and I've only had her about 3 months!!! That's not including her SMBs, bartl half pad, stubben martingale, velvet browbands and all those other bits & bobs that are costing the earth...

Timely post - I've just decided I MUST bin certain items after this winter (if it ever ends) - anything torn is going for doggy beds.

I try to ban myself from going into town in my horse/garden/painting clothes but inevitably find myself in the supermarket in the ancient mud-coloured and mud-splattered trousers, fleece with hay dog and horse hairs embedded in it and boots with horse poo on them. I was working in an office up to last year and tried desperately to arrive in work without mud on my shoes/end of trousers in the winter but usually failed to the consternation of the neat-freak I was working with - she gave up on me in the end. This is a farming area and no-one gives a stuff what you look like day to day and we all scrub up well when we have to.

Strange thing - the only shoes I clean are my good jod boots -what does that say about my priorities?

Half my t-shirts and jumpers are ten years old or more or cost £2, and I alternate between two pairs of jods. My boots are several years old as are my two jackets.

You really would not like to see me. My gosh. I am always doing dirty work so i don't see the pint in being smart. My clothes and footwear are worn until they fall apart.

I don't have a single designer name item.
I am still the same person in these clothes as i would be in posh ones or non patched ones.

I think maybe the more confident people dont need to hide behind designer names and post clothes...... they know whether they are any good or not!!!!

I will not tell you how scruffy I am though.... it may give the game away!!

I usually only wear the jods once before they go in the wash, but I always manage to get filthy. Oh and I put a new pair in the horsebox sale for £12! Black ones! I couldn't leave them there for that price!
I usually buy kids ones!

My fav winter yard coat is currently held together with gaffer tape as it all the feathers are coming out of the tears in it.

Gotta love the scruffy yard look

Well we are so posh that my horse & I have matching outfits! Her rug and my yard jacket are so splattered with mud etc after a long hard winter you can't tell what colour they were originally. And I usually wear the same johds for several days in a row so they are quite 'ripe' by the time they go in the wash. I also have special 'holey' johds for wearing on sundays!

I treated myself to a pair of green breeches from Derby house this winter. I have three pairs I wear in rotation (the others are Just Togs) and one pair for best. They were the last ones I bought three years ago. I seem to have paint on all my sweatshirts, and many aged bobbly jumpers.

I am always trying to look decent and always have full make -up on to go out the door, stables or supermarket( at my age you need it just so as not to frighten the horses!)
However now I know what a scruffy lot the rest of you are I will stop trying so hard and put some money away for more important things like face-lifts!
Actually I buy quite a lot of secondhand gear on ebay, and have had some fabulous bargains!
