Like a lot of people we haven't had any real rain for 6/7 weeks. The ground is so hard I worry for the horses and the grass/hay situation ain't very promising either.

I know it makes not a jot of difference to what actually happens, but I have become very addicted to weather forecasts - and depending where I look tomorrow is going to be 0.2mm rain, 4.2mm of rain - or no rain for the next 2 weeks. OK I Really Like the Royals, but I would prefer some rain!

Anyone else have this sad affliction??

Not just me then.....

Don't get me wrong- I'm enjoying the nice evenings on the yard after work- but I'm getting obsessive about the grass growing. Or not. Mind you - I have good do-ers so not really a problem unless we have another hay 'situation':(

Yes ,me too!!! I have an allotment ad cant get seeds to germinate. Our horses are eating all the grass and it is not growing, and then there is this years hay.....

I have hay and snow paranioa already... we're only in April...

We had a little rain on Tuesday night, I have never been so pleased to splash for a microscopic puddle in my life!

its been under a week since we had rain, but that was the first in about five weeks, so it wasnt enough to make the ground the slightest bit softer, would do any thing for it to rain by monday so i can go xc safely would also be nice for it to rain so the haylage will grow! other wise its going to be a really late cut this year

My Facebook status is "wanting rain"! My two mares are good doers so glad that grass isn't too bad. However I am worried about the hard ground and also hay!

i am desperate for rain too... my field is like a desert... i am resorting to doing a rain dance between desperately checking the BBC 5 day forecast :D

desperate for some in wilts , the metoffice say we are gonna get some then it disappears :( at the mo i'm with accuwether as it's saying we're having a wet week :). and yes obsessed with forecasts

Yep, my favourite is Met Office, but they were promising rain Thurs night and Friday, which would have been great and they've recently taken it away again :( I wanted the ground softened in time for a sponsored ride on Sunday, will now have to do most of it in walk if there isn't any rain.

Next favourite is BBC Weather - but that is only Met Office in pretty pictures.

Lastly, I quite like NetWeather- I sometimes prefer their forecast - I always pick the one I want :)

I'm glad I'm not the only one. My OH thinks I'm obsessed with the weather, usually to know whether rugs are required but for the last four weeks to check for rain. I'm more desperate than ever as had fertiliser and pelleted lime spread weeks ago at great expense and it's still barely got damp. Maybe I should book a holiday a few miles from home and then guaranteed to get a whole week of rain!
