Its been a week and a half since Oreo the idiot injured herself again and i am so utterly bored and frustrated not being able to ride! Especially since we were doing so well together, and merely 2 days beforehand got 68.2% in our second ever novice test :(

No idea how she managed to do it, looked around the field several times with no evidence on any of the fencing....she is a mystery wrapped in an enigma. Link to a pictures of how we found her below. Theres a deep puncture to the inside of her knee (the vet stuck her finger in it and it turned out to be much deeper than i first thought!) and a deep wound on the outside of the knee that went to the joint capsule.

Looking sorry at the vets

Stitches on Wednesday

And then Friday

The stitches are starting to come apart a bit more so she'll have another scar to add to her collection but i don't think it will rival the one on her hind leg thankfully!

Luckily the vets have been very positive about her recovery so far, the bandage came off on friday, and the stitches might be coming out tomorrow. If all keeps going well i may even be able to ride in 3 weeks time...fingers crossed! :D Hopefully it wont be too long and we'll get back on track as we were just starting to build up our jumping to more reasonable heights too! And to end on a happier note here's a pic of said bigger jumps (for us lol).

Yeah. I've not ridden for 6 months as I'm due to have a baby in a week and stopped riding after nearly having a fall at 3 months gone.

It's not the horse that's injured in my case!

I broke a bone in my foot 4 1/2 weeks ago and haven't been able to ride since. I am most disappointed to have missed all the lovely hacking weather in September and now that the end is in sight, the weather seems to have turned.

Yup, pony got poorly start of June came back into full work after lots of just walking start of september, followed by a noseblees, more scopes back into work and now lame... He's not done too bad though as it's the first time he's been properly poorly in the 9 years I've had hom so I can't complain!

My horse is retired and I can only afford one (and companion pony). So no riding for me for the foreseeable future- it is rubbish but I wouldn't be without my retired mare

Sorry to hear all of you havent been able to ride for so long! And i hope all of you or your horses get better soon :) Puts my measly couple of weeks so far in perspective :p

Congratulations Moomin1! Thats got to be one of the best reasons for not being able to ride at least :)

Evie91 no chance of sharing a ridable horse? I know its not the same as your own though.

I'm fed up with mine being injured although I do have another to ride so it's not as bad as it could be! Mine sliced open his leg 5 weeks ago resulting in this -

5 weeks later and it is getting there but still a way to go.

During this time I also injured myself (falling off the other one - twice!) so had to have a week off from riding and I was in such a bad mood by the end of the week, I was vile

Ouch! Hope it heals well!

I have sat on a horse about 4 or 5 times in the last 2.5 years due to moving to London and not being able to find/afford a suitable share :(
But I am going to see a share horse tomorrow that sounds like it ticks all the boxes....so fingers crossed!

Me! It's been roughly 4 weeks since I've ridden my pony..:.longest I've ever gone without riding! I should be back on him in a week or so if all goes to plan but the wait is very painful...

One of the ponies on our yard sliced his hind leg in the field, no idea how he did it!!!
Vet even got a few bone chips out (X-Ray showed them) but main leg bone ok. He has been on box rest for 5 weeks now and it's healing nice, his young owner has been very patient with no riding..

I've not ridden for a week since the boy reared up with me. So not really missing it haha. Found out he's lame so might have been the reason for the rearing

But I had almost 2 yrs of no riding and loads of mucking out. So sort of used to it

I've got my retired mare a 4 yr old that I've had since he was 18 months and a mini Shetland. So the work I put in is a lot compared to the rides I get x

My horse share ended last week so I'm missing riding but also all the horsey contact. I'm looking for somewhere to have lessons until I have found s new share so hopefully won't be horseless for too long.

My two have been retired for over 2yrs and I can't afford a third. Most of the time it's ok, though a few months back I did have a proper stampy feet tantrum because I was fed up watching others having so much fun on their own. Gave myself a slap and normal service has resumed.

I have not ridden for a week because Moses has gone really, REALLY bum high. He was not enjoying it so I have stopped for a bit to let him grow. Strange not riding........

I haven't ridden for 18 days, not since my bunion operation. I have another 25 days to go minimum before my 6 week X-ray. Hopefully will be able to do something shortly after that. Counting everyday...

We think he put his leg through sheep fencing, he'd only been in the field for 12 hours!! :(

Well he didn't waste any time doing that!!

It is nice to hear of those unable to ride as they have retired horseys, see so many old horses for sale for peanuts at the minute which i always find sad. Good to see those that stand by their retirees :)

Congrats shadowboy on your bundle of joy!

Healing vibes to those with injured horseys :) and also to Simbacat ;)
