I have been waiting for over three months for my foal's passport back! I had part of it sent back because the microchip barcode wasn't attached and I posted it back to them 2nd November (so they had the form for two months at that point!) To put it is perspective I had a Sports Horse GB and a Donkey Breed Society passport drawn and posted on the same day and had both of them back within three weeks. I have emailed them and waiting for reply. I just that is terribly slow! I bet it arrives in the post tomorrow now I've said all that!!!!

Did you weigh it, or just put it straight in the box?

If they get one of the cards from the PO saying that they need to pay x pence for a letter, they don't bother fetching it.

I had to apply for a duplicate passport after falling foul of it a few years back.

All unclaimed post gets sent to Ireland. I did my best to track it down, to no avail

They were very slow with mine, and very stroppy when I rang up to ask (politely!) how long it would take to get back

I'm used to dealing with NIHB who are super-quick and friendly

The people at CHAPS are nearly always stroppy no matter how nicely you ask about anything; I've found them one of the most unpleasant societies to contact in the past. When you do manage to finally get hold of them they're always so damn churlish I feel like telling them if they don't like the job, pass it over to someone who wants it and can be pleasant into the bargain. Ooh, sorry, off my soapbox now!

I too find the people at CHAPS quite rude on the phone whatever your query or concern.

I sent a passport away for my part bred tri-coloured cleveland bay to be overstamped and did receive it within 3 weeks but I have a friend who sent away for a new passport for her coloured colt foal and it took approx 3 months.

Why can't they just be a little more approachable!

Yes a lot of people say that about CHAPS, not very friendly or that helpful as some societies.

BSPA can be slow, but bless them, they are very friendly and nice folks to deal with and have always given me help with showing and making sure I had the correct cards and knew the procedures etc and do their best to make sure everyone gets to their class at their shows, hence they often run late or shall we say, become a little less organised than others. I still join them each year though for their wonderful attitude.

glad its not just me whos havin probs with them! sent off my colts passport on 10/11th october, but hadnt got it back. I rang to see if they had recieved it or it had got lost with the postal strike, only to be rudely spoken to by a lady saying they hadnt recieved anything from me. The nxt day the forms arrived in the post saying the barcode was missing from the microchip part, surely someone had hand written the address to get it back to me! also the barcode part wasnt necessary when id sent it off! within a few weeks of me applying they had changed their passport application forms online but not allowed any overlap in the procedure! not exactly an intelligent time to make changes to their forms when everyone is applying for their foals passports! wished id gone with bspa now! oh well will see how many months it will take to arrive!
