Absolutely - I also hate this time of the season as am counting down the days to closing meet.

All of my non hunting friends are looking forward to spring and summer, but I wish it away until I can follow hounds again come Autumn....

Can completely sympathise :(. I follow on foot (literally on foot, not in a car) every Saturday without fail but after tomorrow it will be two weeks running I haven't been out! Also as someone said, the closing meets are coming up :(

I missed most of this month after a foot absess (horse, not me!) then frozen ground.

Following on foot is never the same as being mounted, and I was worse than a bear with a sore head for the whole month.

Looking forward to a cracking March and hope the summer and spring fly by towards the new season.

Happy hunting.

This is my first season, i try to go most saturdays but havent been for a whole month because my mare had a sore and i've been counting down to today because its our final meet and i'm soooooooo looking forward to it i couldnt sleep last night!!.

I will be doing plenty of funrides though to keep me occupied and to keep her fitness ticking over.

I've lost a couple of days through an injured horse and some through bad weather. Currently have sound horse and weather is good so have everything crossed for tomorrow!

Jen - Miserable Miserable! The understatement of the week.

Suicidal would be more appropriate. Perhaps one should think of it in the context of going to a better place where hunting has not been banned.

There was a certain master of hounds who found himself at the gates to heaven - at this point it should be made clear and without question, all masters of hounds go to straight to heaven. The gate opener, St Peter enquired of the master's prior profession and immediately opened the gate and he went through, saying as he did, "gate please".

"Just a second, hold hard" said St Peter, "where do think you are Leicestershire, Gloucestershire or perhaps the Blackmore Vale and who do you think you are, saying gate please to me?"

"Let me make it quite clear" said St Peter, "I am not here to open and shut gates, nor do I do damage, largely because we do not have any heavenly binder twine".

"Forgive me" said the master of hounds, "I will see to it that you are not capped by the secretary".

"Capped by the secretary" exclaimed St Peter, "this is heaven". "I know said the MFH, isn’t absolutely heaven not to have a secretary".:)

My house will have had 20 days this season, I've had only half of those. If there's anything wiser than not being able to go it's watching your oh go off on your horse!

I have been told that hunting is the most fun you can have with you clothes on...therefore even if you have only had 10 days with your cothes on (so to speak) it is better than 10 days othewise (if you follow this logic).

Your OH will have had the same amount of fun obviously...;)

Had our closing meet last Sat......cue this Sat bored, miserable and sulking. Thought about doing some visiting but can't really afford too, and not the same without all my normal hunting buddies.

Was thinking whether I could hibernate until the end of July, when we start mounted hound excercise again, but then had a glimmer of hope...hound pups will arrive for walking in a few weeks time!

Now I have a purpose again, (toddles off too get stable prepared and find last seasons toys)!!!
