Took my daughter unaffiliated SJ at a centre near us today. It started at 9 with clear round, then 10am would be 55cm then 65cm and so on to 95cm. We like to do 75, 85 and 95 so we got there about 11.30am.

It was soooo quiet. there were only about 5 other people there and so the organisers had decided not to run classes. Instead we each paid £5 and could go in the ring as many times as we wanted and at what heights we wanted. My daughter went in 3 times at about 75, 85 and 95. She got clears in the first 2 and then for some reason he put in a stop at the very last jump in 95. Perhaps he was coming wrong to it.

Anyway - although we didn't get to compete we had a good time schooling and practicing.

The organisers were saying that a lot of the centres are quiet for unaffiliated now and that they are not going to run their Friday evening SJ for the rest of the summer because hardly anyone is turning up.

Is it quiet where you are?

only 4 boxes at our local unaff today, i just popped in, they all reckon its the cost of diesel, but with entry fees, tea, burger you can spend £100 easily

We've cut back quite a bit from shows this year and not just because of diesel - as was pointed out above by the time you add everything else in you can quite easily spend a fortune. We're being much pickier about the things we're going to now (a lot easier now that small child has given up riding
