Anyone else finding wellies don't stay waterproof for long these days?

I've had the Dunlop for years, then the leather-lined Aigle (much too cold in winter) and now have the best wellies I've ever owned. They are Seeland (made in Denmark), neoprene lined, with a very thick sole. They come up to just below the knee and have a gusset and adjustable toggle at the back of the leg. They are like walking on clouds, so comfortable and as warm as toast. Best of all, they were only about £80. I bought them in the East Midlands at a country store specialising in shooting and equestrian clothing. They are extremely hard-wearing and weather-proof. I can't recommend them highly enough!

In my recent experience it doesn't seem to matter if they are cheap or expensive they are still rubbish!

In the last couple of years I have purchased:
Aigle wellies - great but i wore holes in the soles!
Joules wellies - split after a couple of months
Hunter wellies - really uncomfortable and wore quickly
La Crosse wellies - very expensive and had to take them back as inside fell apart, they were replaced but the new ones are going in the same place
Ryedale Wellies - split in a couple of months and they are NOT replying to my emails!

All in all I think I just walk around too much and they can't cope!

My Dubarry's have gone from being for best to filling all "emergencies" and whilst after 3 years they look a bit worn on the toe (the leather is faded)they are still waterproof and comfortable. So in my opinion they are well worth the investment and I am not buying wellies anymore! (Well until it's really muddy when i may reconsider!!)

I have a pair of Ariats and theyre fab! Super comfy, adjustable at the top (I have very short legs so wellies before have never fitted quite right) and theyre designed to be ridden in aswell for those moments you get caught out. Would highly reccomend and only cost about £60...well worth it.

Ariats please! Current pair coming up to 4 years old now, mostly used for dog walking, but did 2 years of horsey duty, still (touch wood!) got dry feet :)

I bought my green wellies 6 years ago, brand new from a charity shop and theyre still waterproof.I got my daughter a pair green wellies awhile ago (1 1/2 sizes bigger) and she wore them few weeks ago and they are completely waterproof,as she went on a school trip and walked thru a deep river and stayed nice and dry. I believe you get what you pay for.Buy cheap ,they dont last.I would buy the ones with the heavy duty sole. Those printed cheapy ones do not last 5 mins.

This is very good news as I have recently treated myself to a pair of these in the sale ! I must say they seem very well maid and if they work even half as hard as my Bromonts have I will be very happy :-)

friend of mine had a pair of hunters which split after less than 6 months so she took them back to the retailer, they have stopped stocking hunters as they had so many returns:eek:!!! they are stocking barbour wellies instead so it will be interesting to see how long they last:)
