...claiming to be from Your Horse magazine? Said that I was in the running to win a competition (that I'd entered...??) and that as a "thank you" they'd give me the next 3 editions for £1 - all they needed was my sort code and account number....errrmm...don't think so!!

That was a scam that was going on a while ago. Well done for not falling for it.

They do however ring sometimes offering three issues for one pound, never come across the line about winning a competition though.
