Well I do

Chester should NOT be allowed near another horse! He is a gelding who has an identity crisis!

He is nasty to every and any horse in his path and is quite happy to be alone.

He is even like this to mares. I have observed him in many settings with many horses and it is very consistant.

He should cough up hair balls!

I am wanting to lock him away tonight tbh.

It is far beyond normal alpha behavior , sometimes he does it for play!

I made a HUGE mistake tonight introducing my new mare to him. I thought a mare would put him in his place

He was horrible to her .

Chester is an a$$hole in every sense of the word with other horses. He is great with people though

Mae is protective of her stable, or she will chase others away from the field gate when i come to see her. She hates other horses coming near her stable if she is eating. She loves her food!

If mo wants to sleep he can chase all away from him as he likes to lie down when sleeping.

The rest are just soo lazy that being nasty would take up too much energy lol.

YOs GFs horse is bad to the bone, shes taken chunks out of my horses in the field!!!

ME! Is it a chestnut thing?

I have a mare that is a total cowbag and thinks that she wants everything that everyone else has, food, water, space in the shed, THAT particular blade of grass!
mad.gif
She doesn't like any other horses either. Ruby is good with people too oddly enough, not at all pushy and would never dream of trying to be boss.

Tell you what Jade I think we have a matching pair, I wonder what they would do if they were put in a paddock together?

Hope your little mare is OK, how is she settling in? Did you decide on a different name for her after all?

George is a bit like that, he's not actually nasty but he pulls faces, it seems to be whenever there is food involved, hay, grass whatever, he's ok in the school etc. He is of course great with people!

Ooooh! I think we should put them into a small pen together and see how tough they both are!

The mare is settling in fine (except for tonight

)

I just wanted her to have a buddy and thought her quarrantine should be over
confused.gif
. Her and Tex are fine but he is being sold so I really wanted her and Chester to get along
confused.gif
. I think I will leave him( Chester) by himself and put her in with the Shetland Fancy . They were introduced and had NO problems at all. His fencing was just a bit low for her and he is an old man so I thought I would hope for the best with the big boys...NOT!

Some may say I did not give it enough of a chance but it was quite violent and I refuse to let them hash it out in that small of a space.

I suspect when they are all out on summer pasture together in the big field all will be well. For winter is seems to be plan B
smirk.gif

Still no name for her yet
blush.gif

Cannot leave it "Misty" though for my reasons stated before ( good firiends name)

I have only thought of Shannon for her and it seems to fit but nobody will agree with me.

They all think she should have a Native American not an Irish one name and I think that is very UN original for a POA , paint or appy!
grin.gif

any ideas?

No food involved here
confused.gif
Just being nasty.

In fact, in a fubbergated attempt tp break it up I threw piles of hay all around spread far apart and even THAT did not stop the pig king!

The grain bucket did after about 5 minutes though...thank GOD!

Normally I would put food nowhere near a horse quarrel but I couldn't think of anything else to distract here. It worked so that was good
smirk.gif

Not a scratch on any of them thankfully!

Chester did get a few good kicks to the face though and the mare at one point was pinned in a shelter getting kicked
blush.gif

I was just afraid he would run her through a fence!

I would have thought that running round all those chairs would slow them down in their attacks....perhaps they're trying to tell you something about your taste in furnishings?

Now that you mention it I disagree....The fluffy over stuffed sofa is what saved the pinned mare!
smile.gif

I will have to dock her feed for the furniture cleaning though!

Why horses CANNOT respect Italian leather I wll never know!

And while we're on the subject...can't you just line up miniatures to absorb the impact of his hooves....that way the proper horses won't get damaged.

I have!!!

Mine is grey though.

Badger only likes Caffrey and is a total HORROR with all other horses!!! It gets quite bad out hunting/hacking, he's not a kicker but goes for their neck with his teeth!!!
confused.gif
He lashed out at a little pony with his front leg the other week out hunting.
frown.gif
Not nice at all!

my highland was bullied mercilessly until he was about 12 yrs old. Now the tables have turned and he has a new nickname, Victor Meldrew. The only one he doesn't have a go at is the TB. All the others get dirty looks, backside turned, ears flat and nostrils wrinkled. He even tries to chew chunks out of the tack room door if he thinks his tea is late. He's great with people though!!
ETS Mine is grey too!!

Now how in the he(( would I do that when they all live in my house?

People mistake my horse for a rig hes that bad in the field. He mounts the mares and chases geldings all round the field and beats the s*** out of them. He has been known to lame horses and pin them down, hes psychotic, needless to say, he doesnt get turned out in a herd.

Yes... Blue is a big bully to ALL other horses! The only one he doesn't bully quite so much is Holly and i think thats because they have been together since they were 3 and were the 2 new ones to the crowd around the same time!
smirk.gif

I havn't but he was turned out with one that sounds exactly the same!!He was pure evil most of the time!!Could never understand that either, was far from normal horse behaviour! However he wasn't a people horse either, unless it was on his terms! Can honestly say i have never met a horse with so many issues!!Was pleased to see the back of it,my horse dosnt get eaten anymore
shocked.gif
,bless im!!
smile.gif

mine's not really rotten, just very bossy in the field. he chases tom round in walk constantly, and if tom thinks about standing up for himself (rarely) then Ron will give him a dirty look and tom changes his mind.

but out riding.... tom takes every opportunity to bite ron, and anywhere he can reach. and Ron does nothing. just plain ignores him. to once tom had got a mouthful of ron's neck skin in his mouth and ron turned round and made a really evil face and i've never seen any horse reverse so quick as tom did!

we always joke that living with tom must be like living with a kid with ADHD! non stop talking and constant fidgeting! no wonder ron likes his stable - a bit of peace and quiet!

We had a gelding that was like this when we turned him out in the field with others. With one he went about 1/2 mile around the field, flat out, with his teeth sunk into its neck.
To sort him out we put him out in a field of fillies, one in particular kicked the crap out of him and now you can turn him out with anything.

I had a chesnut mare years ago. She was brilliant with people but was definitely queen bee in the field. She was okay with the others as long as they knew their place!!

Yes I have 2! My mare is evil to everyone and a complete bully! My gelding just doesn't seem to have a clue how to interract with other horses (possibly as a result of my mare's behaviour to him) and approaches them all with his mouth open to chew them! He doesn't know how to groom them, just bites, but not aggressively. Think he's just young, playful and clueless!

I had a warmblood who was a lovely horse normally but turn him out with a new horse and he would beat the crap out of it. I mean, chasing round the field teeth baring stuff. Never kicked them, just tried to bite them a lot. But after a few days, once the whole dominance thing was well in place - he was fine and turned back into lovely horse again! I know all horses obviously have to sort out the hierarchy but he seemed to go well over the top. When I introduced my current horse to him he actually chased him straight into a fence which the poor newbie tried to jump but flipped over it. Thank god Id put boots on him - one was shredded but horse was amazingly fine. It awful watching it, but Id done the usual introducing over a fence for a few days etc etc. but never helped with him. Give him a few days (with new horse booted and rugged up to the eyeballs to shield bites) and he was a sweetheart again.

Otherwise my Welshie cant be turned out with my shetland mare. He rams into the back of her, nipping her butt and trying to mount her (he's 15.2hh so crushes her), he'll do it for hours. He's a gelding so Im unsure why he feels the need...!

My mare can be a nightmare - I turn her out on her own now to aviod injuries
blush.gif
She used to be ok with a gelding at the old yard but he was 18.1hh and she's only 15.1hh so I guess he told her off
smile.gif

YEP! The innocent looking yellow thing in my sig
blush.gif

Tried turning him out with D and he was extremely protective and constantly chased him off
blush.gif

YO decided it would be good for her 2 Friesians who have only ever been turned out with each other to have Monty in the same field............Nope not a good idea
frown.gif
He is now named the beast and lives with the little beastie (the shettie) who he seems to like to lick
confused.gif
It helps that the little beastie does give as good as he gets.

D should also never be turned out with yearlings especially ones you intend to show
blush.gif
because when they are naughty (which is at least once a day according to D) he bites big chunks out of them
blush.gif
He also teaches them some of his delightful habits
