Anyone else have to contend with this on a daily basis.....?:o

OMG if I had to deal with that every day I think I'd leave my horse out!!

Does it box walk? or is it just a really filthy beast?

Christ yes - I'm with you! I would be very concerned that my horse was getting distressed in some way to cause that kind of a mess.

I have to say though that I turn out at 6am even at weekends it is rarely much later and bring in at 6pm so believe this makes a whole load of difference to the bed. As for tipping up water buckets - get heavier buckets or a tyre for them to go into.

Wow! My boy used to be like this... Sounds backwards but deep litter and make a huge bed, it's much much cleaner. Plus saves a ton of time and money.

Ahem *drumroll* enter....HAMSTER BOY.

This is what I am greeted with first thing in the morning:

He does anything from 1-3 piles overnight and 1 wet patch which is always in the same place. Never puts shavings in his water and never pulls down his banks. Has 1/2 bale of fresh shavings a week. :o

Will occasionally pull his hay into middle of stable to use as pillow :p

I would, if he was stabled at night and did try keeping him in but thought perhaps the state of his stable was an indication of how he was feeling. He is wrapped up, lives out and poos all in one place, he toddles off to the muck heap and deposits on or near it, now word of a lie.

I have one like that, the only reason I use haynets is because she'll lie on the floor, pull her hay bowl towards her and eat lying down - hay everywhere = twice as long to muck out. She poos and then dances around the stable every night as far as I can make out, everything's trodden in. Bleurgh

Even worse atm as it's so wet they're getting turned out later to try and save the fields so I'm using twice as much bedding and hay as normal.

if you didnt know me and you saw Kiz's i'm sure you would report me, it looks like she had the whole yard round for a party over night, she doesnt box walk but is very heavy footed and drags the straw when she goes for a drink ..delightful creature :) ....shes out during day and in at night and i do a full muckout every night x

One of my mares was amazing, her bed used to cover 2/3 of her stable and she did her entire toilet on the remaining 1/3! Took 2 minutes to muck her out with a brom and a snow shovel :D

My most recent mare would have been minging if she wasn't deep littered! No poo was left intact and it was all buried somewhere  my gelding is good though, even though he poos like an elephant it's all in the same place (another advantage of ad lib hay!), he's also deep littered so no wet to worry about otherwise he'd cost a fortune in bedding

I'll have to get a picture of Tags bed tomorrow, honestly it looks like he hasn't been mucked out for months after he's been in his stable for 3 hours or so. Nevermind how it looks when he's been in it overnight!

YP's bed looks like figs in the morning :D normally about 4 poos 3 together and one on its own. Love my clean boy, his turn outs hardly get muddy, his stable rugs never get dirty and I think I've only once had to brush mud off him  :D
