Oh dear, it hasn't been my month at all. :(
Mare went lame a little while back and had the vet come out to do an assessment and we decided to bute and box rest. She appeared sound a week later but a few days of ridden work she went lame again. And of course silly me (as she always been a tough cookie etc) didn't get her insure for vets bills. So out comes said vet again, nerve blocks and xrays and ultrasounds...finally finds 'something' on her tendon. So she now has to be taken to horsepital on the 20th for MRI scans etc....great.
Offered to ride my friends horse (very green 4yr old) which took off as soon as I put one foot in the stirrup sending me flying into the fence...ouch :(
Then this morning when turning my mare out, she decided to get rather excited and have a dance on the end of the lead rope before booting me in the chest and doing a fab racehorse impression. Great.

Hope everyone else is having a good week!!

How about not so good 6 months first off all my mare broke her pedal bone, then i had a miscarriage then i had a car crash (other persons fault) and my car was written off bought the car back fixed it got it back on the road and 2 weeks later while it was parked up outside my work it got written off agian :( that was last week so i cant wait for 2012 to start and im praying it is better then this year :)

I just think the whole year has been rubbish to be honest. Fell out with my best friend of 20 years over some rubbish on FB, which is stupid. My eldest daughter moved in with her wife beater boyfriend. My middle daughter has been messing about with drugs....which i still cant get my head round. Ive had enough completely of my horses, they arent fun anymore & would quite happily sell the lot, apart from old lad. Oh & my old lad was ill a couple of weeks ago which really wasnt good. & to top it all off i feel like crap, ive painful feet, knees, hips, shoulders, elbows, hands, sciatica, constant hayfever & i feel like im the size of a house. So all in all i cant wait to see what next year throws at me :(

Have to agree, as a whole, 2012 has not been a good year for us.

Lost a very good friend to cancer, farrier lost his daughter in a car crash, no pay rises so finances tight, crap weather, and horses just becoming a chore rather than a pleasure atm.....

Also fell out with a neighbouring farmer who wanted to set up a campsite in a field right next to our house, and couldn't understand why we were upset by it. Fortunately they didn't get pp or we would have had our house on the market by now...

Let's hope 2013 is a kinder year to us all x

Me too :(

Dog has heart tumours and is night blind due to cataracts, then picked up a urine infection. Vet is in awe of him as doesn't believe he is able to act so well when in theory he should be so poorly.

Haven't ridden for a month due to work commitments.

Had my bedroom replastered and new ceiling put in, two days after the final coats of paint, water came pouring through the ceiling due to storm damage to the render on the chimney.

Then to top it off I tripped bring the horses in and dislocated my shoulder. Still in a sling, haven't been allowed near the beasts for nearly two weeks (thank god for mum, yo and friends helping out)

Thankfully didn't clip so no work for them until end of jan really and meant to be off skiing in two weeks :(

On the plus side, bf rushed to my side from over 100 miles away and my friends and family have been amazing so i'm lucky in that respect.

2012 has been a really crappy year for me too.

Lost my beloved horse in January, have had illness in the family, had a car crash (not my fault either!) and got burgled.

Roll on 2013

Yes! If you're after sob stories, I had to have my lovely 12yr old TB pts 3 weeks ago due to chronic gastric impactions. My old lab has now been diagnosed with liver disease and will be pts next week. Add to that both mine and my OH's jobs are uncertain after xmas due to restructures and redundancies we are in for a pretty crappy xmas! Oh well, must keep smiling and give my old lonely boxer dog lots of cuddles next week.

I've had a rubbish month! Had my first livery bill, 3 months over due which I'm still figuring out how to pay. Got YO banging on at me to register him at the vets, which is £100. Then he's due his next vaccination. He's lost numerous shoes. Had the start of an abscess. The list goes on!

I've had a difficult few months too. My Gran passed away a few months ago, I have been struggling a lot with money and university, my step dad collapsed, my mum and step dad have been constantly arguing and my aunt is in hospital with an aneurysm. She has an 8 year old son that could possibly be coming to live with us if she doesn't pull through.... Cue more arguing from parents. I hope it doesn't come to that as my step dad is an a** to live with. If only I had the money to move out!

Hope 2013 is a better year for me and everyone here :o

Last three months have been shocking:
Car rolled down a hill whilst parked, smashed up and got written off....... Got car back and fixed up
Then rolled husbands car through hedge killing a cat, and ending up getting trapped inside needing cut out and spianal boarding to A+E, CAR SCRAPPED AND ONLY HAD 30% OF ITS value back in insurance! :(

Then foud my beloved Snow Bengal Cat dead for no reason

Then found out my JR teerrier has liver disease and will need ££££S OF TESTS DONE (THANKGOODNESS FOR INSURANCE)

Yes, £100 registration fee! Have had to restart his vaccs, YO sorted out first one but now apparently I have to register him for the second?!

Yes I had to pay £100 to register at the equine vets too - Will get to use the registration money for jabs etc - but still had to apy up front ! I think its genereal practise nowadays!

Just had a horse we were going to buy (practically perfect in every way) fail the vetting today... so today is not a good day!

Yeah, but not horse related :) :(

Car has broken twice in one month costing nearly £400 to fix the first time. With the help of my lovely co-workers looking up my car (Fiat Panda) and finding some the same age for sale cheaper than it cost to fix mine didn't really help much.

Then it broke again today with check engine light coming on finding out I have NO oil at all in it :( and still after said oil has been put in, it still says check engine :( So it is in garage at the min and I have no idea how much it will be :(

May be easier for me to start riding my cob to work and leave him tied up outside with a haynet :)

Can I join too please? my 2012 has been horrid!

Ok so I got taken into hospital and put on a drip for a day.

My Grandad suffered a stroke (I found him) and was in hospital for a while, so we had to find carers for my bed ridden nan. The day he was released, my nan got rushed in!

My grandad then slipped and feel and cracked his head open. Another trip and stay in hospital.

My dad got rushed into hospital 3 weeks ago, they thought he had meningjitis. But luckily didn't.

I crashed my brand new (as in new 62 plate) into a wall and its very scratched :( I can't afford to get it repaired right now, although will have too cause its on finance)

I fell out with a group of friends.

My Horse still can't be schooled otherwise she is lame. She isn't in pain. But the next step is scans which I cannot afford right now (she is insured, but this leg is excluded)

I owe my parents quite a bit of money, luckily they have been very good to me and aren't pressuring me.

My friend hung himself on the 29th Sept.

I hope everyones 2013 is better!!

well my 2012 has been very 50/50 gran (in law) got poorly and passed away, no payrise for the 4th year in a row, spend the whole year studying so hard didnt enjoy time with the horses so no compeating or fun, just set up my own business but working so hard to start up i am exhausted and still no bl***y money! plust fell off a friends horse last week - she said oh yeh and he hasnt left the stable in 3 weeks!! then got kicked in the face by my 2 yo today!

But although that is all naff for me its not a patch on what some of you guys are/ have gone though thinking of you all!

Sending strong positive thoughts to everyone!

Putting my hand up for a pretty crappy 2012 too!

Left university, got a really cool job on a 4* yard, my only horse had to be retired prior to our BE debut, my beloved Grampsie died, I dislocated and broke a finger in a horsey accident, had to leave my cool job because they didn't know how long it would take to fix, had to move in with bf's parents (not so bad but hard), can't find myself another job for love nor money, can't ride, have no friends where I live (plan was to go play sports/join riding clubs to meet people) and bf has started new job so is barely at home.

Here's to 2013 :)

Not fab, horse bucked due to frustration after coming in for one night to dry off and got me. Nice broken arm and cast to arm pit. had to cancel a job interview and am housebound due to ice. Good job OH is a farmer and happy to feed for me and I have good friends who will do rugs if they need them changing :(

December is always difficult for me, time is short, work is hard, horses are labour intensive, bank account extra empty, many small stresses beginning to converge but on the whole 2012 has (so far) been an ok year, I have certainly had much worse ones. I am sorry for those of you who have suffered and who are suffering now, let's hope things get better really soon.

So are you saying this is a type of deposit? So you get the money back when you use the vet as a credit on your account? Strange, never heard of this one before.

been a crap year all round, lost our beloved pony of 20 yrs, dog of 14 yrs and 3 cats, my new boy has been diagnosed with extensive suspensory damage to both hind legs so has been relegated to a field :(

roll on 2013 i hope its better for everyone

hugs and kisses to all xxx

Can I join the pity party? :)

In Feb OH fell ill, over space of 3 days went from walking and talking to paralysed. Turns out he had Guillian Barre syndrome, hospitalised for 3 months, most of which spent at the specialist hospital 2hrs drive away. I was struggling with 2 neddies, no income, and a 6 month old baby. PPI company refused to pay out for a loan he had, saying (rather conveniently for them) that his cover ran out the very same day he was first admitted to hospital. So not only did we have rent, insurance, utilities etc to pay, there was also the threat of debt collectors for some ridiculous loan he took out when he was 18 (back when banks were handing out loans like candy). We didn't know if he would walk again, let alone go back to work.

BUT

He has since made a 99% recovery. As luck would have it, about 2 weeks after he was discharged an opportunity too good to pass up came along for me, which involved moving house. About a month after that, he was offered the chance to start his own business. He is now working for himself, and whilst its hard work, his illness has actually been the best thing possible for him - he left his awful job where he was owed more than £3k in wages (but was too damn soft to do anything about it), has wised up and now has a business head about him. We claimed back the PPI from the bank as it had been mis-sold, which gave him a much needed £10k startup cushion for his new business.

All in all, 2012 has been hell. But in many ways, this godawful year has probably been the making of both of us.

OMG some horrific stories here, hugs to you all.
My year hasn't been too bad except I just lost my 22 year old mare out of the blue and her 4 year old son but that was Christmas Day last year.
Here's hoping everyone has some good luck in 2013

Have also had a crappy year amongst which we are trying to sell our house and 3 times have got to exchange and someone down the chain has pulled out for some stupid reason. Stress levels at 100%. Mother ill and staying with us which is a strain and various other crappy things but reading about some of your posts I feel positively guilty for feeling low. Best wishes and vibes to all of you who have had really dreadful things happen this year and I really hope good things come to all of you in 2013.

No, I am not having a good month at all. It's been so awful, I just hope the new year brings some peace and happiness (not just to my family, but to others in my thoughts atm). x

Not great for me for the past couple of months although the start of the year was fine.

On my birthday (in October) I suffered from a burst brain aneurysm. Pretty painful when it happened but I don't remember anything until after the surgeon fixed the haemorrhage.

They also fitted a lumbar shunt and it seemed as if all was good. I started to recover until we got to the six week point. I suffered from another excruciating headache and went off to the neuro ward again. Apparently I was suffering from a leak from the brain but I also had a small hole in my skull.

Off to theatre again to get that fixed. No-one warned me about the pain second time around. Apparently it is normal when a head wound is re-opened.

I know I am lucky to be still here and to be recovering so well but today I feel like winging a bit. I am really tired as I can't sleep, I still have staples along one side of my head and they hurt.

I have not bought one single Christmas present, I am house bound and am not allowed to drive until the DVLA say so. I haven't seen my gorgeous horse for a few weeks. My family and OH are fantastic and have been a great support to me but I hate putting on them.

I suppose this is a split winge from me. Happy to be here but want to be better soon.....
