I own 2 whippets. Caleb is 5 months (blue) and Tara is 4 months (fawn).
Absolutely fantastic temperaments, provide me with hours entertainment and are totally loved up!

I had (hes stayed with my mum) a black whippet called Red. Hes nearly 8 now but still as mental as he was as a pup, he will never grow up, ever lol. Hes a dude and hes a people!

I have had whippets in the past but now have rescue greyhounds (3) albeit that they are whippet sized ones :D Nailed (Lou) came up with my favourite phrase ever on Facebook one day talking about Red, said he came to see her 'flappy earring' - whippet and greyhound owners will know just what she means, makes me smile still to this day :)

They really are the best dogs ever, would love another whippet but nasty Cayla wont let me have her blue....:(

I have a 3yr old fawn brindle called Tortoise. He is an absolute star and loves him to death although he has a tendency to kick myself and my OH out of bed..

Amy - whippet x greyhound I got from Cayla on here :)

Islay - almost a proper greyhound sized, she has won races in her career and came from Greyhound Rescue West of England

Flick - a tattooed authentic greyhound who is actually the size of a small whippet (21" at the shoulder) - bred in Ireland she was dumped when she didnt grow big enough to race, she is another one from GRWE :)

Your whippets are gorgeous, I've always had a soft spot for blues too :)
Mine is a rescue boy who I've had since last July and is now 2 and starting to occasionally pretend to be trained  :D

This is him in his favourite sleeping spot after an agility lesson:

im on my third..lost my beloved peggy at the age of 8 a good year back, which was heartbreaking
i have 6 year old black bitch and a year old b/w bitch..both KC reg

i L/C and race which i love to do and the dogs love it

theres quite a few threads on here about whippets..you either like them or dont
some dont like the slight frame of them but believe me they are alot robust than people think

my two blacks(peggy with white chest) are in my sig

Lovely pictures everyone, I have always had terriers (mostly rescues) but became dogless last year after my beloved parsons was tragicly killed in an accident.
For the first time I had to find a dog (usually rescues find me as I work in animal welfare).

It took me a long time to decide on which breed I wanted but kept coming back to the whippet, ive met a few and always admired their temperament (probably as I was used to very overly terriers!)

Am so so happy with my 2, we got Caleb first but I soon decided he needed a companion so a few weeks later we got Tara, they are inseperable but totally different in personalies!
Tara is very independant and brave, whereas Caleb is a total wimp and is comlete mummys boy!

Would love to see pics of you lurchers/greyhounds too

They are a bit addictive, I got my first whippet when I was about 14 and had them since, I always wait for a rescue to come into my mams rescue though, so I have maybe been without one all of 6 months:D

I did look on a few rescue sites to see if there were any whippets but I came to the conclusion they dont often need rehoming (obviously there are always a few who do) but none in my area.
Greyhounds on the other hand, it seemed Id be spoilt for choice but unfortunately they are too big for me.

LOL - greyhounds come in all different sizes I promise, mine are 21" 22" and 23" respectively :) But a big dog could be 30" plus at the shoulder, so you can see how they differ :)

I've got a lurcher (whippet x collie), she is at the moment lying on top of me . She is 14yrs old now and was a rescue, I got her at 3yrs old. She has truly been my soul mate although she does steal our bed every night xx

No pics yet. Yes she is four weeks old at the moment. The breeder will not agree to us having her until she has met us and we have met the pup, so trying not to get hopes up at the moment. But its so exciting. If this is a goer I will post pictures for you!

Are Italian Greyhounds as difficult to housetrain as people have told me? I've got two whippets and I love them. They are such easy dogs. They adore a fast run in the morning and then they sleep for hours in the warmest spot they can find. This, along with a few cuddles and some nice food and they are wonderfully contented.
