It is quite possible to like different types of horses - I share an Arab but was thrilled to ride an Ardens (yes, chunky ride/drive/eat horse) last week. Both Arabs and cobs have heaps to offer.
Well I have arabs and as I get older find I am more cowardly so riding a cob would scare me but I love the cob next door. He has the most beautiful eyes and is a real character, always untying himself and escaping from his stable whilst his owner chases round after him. Wouldn't get me on his back though
I am honoured enough to own both a full bred Spanish white/grey arab mare and a hairy stocky cob. And love them both they are just such great people to be around. My arab is regal, elegant and cleary head and tails above all the other peasants she lives with, this said she is honest, loyal and brave. My cob is funny, very clever, but can be grumpy, this said she is pro-active, forward going but safe, friendly and brave.
In my idea these 2 types are the best you can get.
I love my arabs, but I do like cobs (but - and I know I won't be liked for this - not when they're hogged). Cobs are gorgeous when they're all hairy and feathery. However, the picture of the hogged show cob doesn't appeal to me at all. It's purely down to personal taste though. Personality wise (or should I say horsonality wise) cobs are adorable.
Ooh, me! And warmbloods and thoroughbreds and shires and mountain and moorlands...I've very occasionally me an individual horse in not so keen on but I like all types / breeds.
My 'horse of a lifetime' was a wonderful Arab x Sec.D. He was the best ever and I loved him and will always miss him. Arabs and cobs are both great characters - affectionate, clever and curious.
I have a welsh x arab, he's something like half Section D, 3/8 arab and a touch of TB somewhere really far back.
He's 14.2, high withered with a very pretty head and is quite light, and has a high head carriage and can do the welsh cob trot - I love him to bits!
I think that cobs are just raw power and arabs are gorgeous, but I've never ridden a pure one - I'll just add that to my to-do list
I used to have SHUFFLES who was a registered part bred arab (welsh/arab cross),now I have a gypsy cob.more my type.
I think arabs are pretty but I wouldnt ride one. lol (bit too frisky for me).
