Anyone else left their horse with just a summer sheet/light rug today?

It's so warm outside! Ellie is loose in the yard for the day, and I thought she'd be fine in just a summer sheet. Spring has sprung!

Disappointing weather here today - So Thumper has his neck cover back on.

He was stood in for the farrier yesterday naked - which he thoroughly enjoyed. But I haven't risked the no rug turnout yet. He's just tooo much of a mud monster for that!

Yup. My girl has her summer coat in already (started shedding at the start of February!) and has been out in just a rain sheet for the last week and a bit. She was just too hot with any more than that.

Hopefully they'll be out 24/7 in a months time, then she can be naked again!

Mine is out 24/7 and I'm not 100% certain what he'll have on as haven't been to see him in a couple of days as been so busy!

I'm sure yard owner will take his rug off with all the other ponies if she thinks it was enough though...although he IS a mud monster...and I don't have a lightweight for him...so it's either medium weight or nekked!

I am at a total loss with this rug business. Pepper has been blanket clipped and is shedding big time. Spent a whole 2 hours just grooming and de-hairing yesterday - boy he loved it.

He owns 4 rugs: 1 heavy weight stable / 1 hw outdoor / 1 mw stable / 1 mw outdoor.

We havent had him for a summer yet so have been wondering whether I should Invest in something lightweight - sooner than later.

What would you suggest I get. He is out all day and in overnight.

For the summer, I tend to have Ellie in a little lightweight fleece in the stable (Jumper's Horseline do some nice good value ones!). I also have a little summer sheet which is invaluable; they can go under anything, and can be used in the summer if it's really hot to keep flies off! Also a lightweight turnout is handy for keeping rain off/using as an overrug to keep heavier weight ones dry in winter!

A horse can never have too many rugs....

Couple of mine are out with standard necks, but the two TB's still have necks on. I did leave them out last night though, they seemed really happy and the wether was lovely, hopefully same again tonight..........

One of mine is naked in her stable, and has been naked during the day since Feb when she commenced her box rest.

My other one will probably be out in a MW since I haven't unearthed her LW rugs yet.
I'm thinking of just putting her in a fleece at night if this weather continues. She had some naked field days earlier on in the year, but it's too muddy at the moment to even contemplate it

I've taken the plunge and turned all mine out naked! They came in yesterday looking like mud pies but the brushing off was worth it as they are all suddenly dumping their coats - after brushing Gina it looked like there had been a snow storm in her stable!

Pony is still out in MW with cover - she isn't too warm underneath and I don't trust either of my cheap LW's to keep any unforseen rain out ....sure she is fine and may speed up the shedding!

Yep, Jim just has a rainsheet on over his sweetitch rug (wouldn't have rainsheet on except I don't want the SI rug plastered in mud because I need to put a MW over it tonight). Little Un is naked & having a wonderful time - I suspect he'll look like a hippo by tonight!

most of my broodies that live out had their rugs off yesterday and will stay naked now unless the weather gets very wet again. The foals are in at night but naked all the time now. Only the 2 ridden horses are wearing rugs in the field, to keep them clean more than anything

Gosh, where is all this nice weather!!? Its freezing here, been chucking it down all day and blowing a gale too! Chex is still in his 400gm full neck!
