I ordered an Ideal Susannah through the local saddlery at the end of June and was told a 6 week wait time. Yesterday after 7 weeks I chased it up, am now being told another 3 weeks and am VERY unimpressed. Horse has Area Festivals next weekend and RC champs 2 weeks later. Looks like he won't have the new saddle for either.

At the moment I feel like cancelling the order and looking for secondhand on ebay, except I would lose the substanstial deposit.

Just wondered if anyone else had a similar experience?

They may well be on their 2 week shut down and your saddler should have told you this

Ring them direct and ask for Shaun or Rob and explain your problem

Where about's are you?

My saddler stocks them and i got mine on the day - if your local i can give you the details.

Must be frustrating but don't give up on the saddles - they are lovely x

I expect it depends on whether its a made to measure saddle or an off the peg one? if the latter am sure some saddleries should have them in stock, then it's just a matter of having the saddler out to flock accordingly. But if made to measure I would expect there to be a delay, especially over the summer hols etc. But agree they are lovely saddles and am planning on having a jessica or susannah for my youngster long term. Personally if you've got a big comp coming up soon, and the horse is going well without the new saddle, I woudn't want to be changing saddles just before hand anyway???

The horse is in an Ideal Jessica atm so the shange to the Susannah is more depth and knee blocks = security for the rider, the horse shouldn't find the saddle hugely different, although it is a different tree. ATM he needs a prolite with the Jessica so really could do with the new saddle.

Saddler said 6 weeks including the shut down. The saddle is being made to order/measure as we want brown, and the horse is between M and MW

My saddler use ideal for years but stopped using them as they were taking weeks on end to deliver even though she had sent cheques for her saddles she turned to Dever saddles as they were at the end of a phone whenever she phoned and was not rude when she contacted them.

He was being VERY optomistic then in fact I would even go as far as saying he was pulling your leg

I used to go to the factory regularly and order made to measure saddles. They would NEVER give a date less than 6 weeks WITHOUT a shut down to take into account

I can only take as I find and both Shaun and Rob (owners) have always been very nice both in person and on the phone

You shouldnt lose your deposit if the terms are not as the saddler said. i.e. delivery is taking much longer than you were originally quoted and you have a time limit due to competitions
