I just wondered what everyone else thought. It seems I never have any time to revise what with squashing homework in. I get home from school at 3:50, get changed, go to the stables just after 4:00. Then it takes me 2 and a half hours about to do everything include ride. Get back at 7:00. Eat. Homework. Stretches/Pilates. Sleep!! How does everyone else cope? :D

Yes, I'd go along with the last post: my son is doing GCSE's so I am doing the early dog walks; daughter doing end of year exams so I am full time groom.
...you obviously haven't trained your parents!!

In my third year of uni and doing all my last assignments. Not sure how but I have so far managed in this semester to send horse to stud, sell a horse, buy horse-sell the horse and buy another one and a half(foal at foot will be sold september). All since april, not sure how I have done it. lol And here I am still in damp jods writting an assignment. All I can say is jaffa cakes and red bull are vital :D I also have a job two times a week to pay for this crazy hobby--and red bull.

I have non horsy parents, a TB on DIY and am currently in the middle of GCSEs.
I am up before school to feed an turn out (mum v nicely giving me lifts to stables in the morn and to school, due to exams :D normally walk or cycle 3miles to yard and then get train into school).
Obviously my routine is different now as I have GCSEs at random time and otherwise am fairly flexible due to study leave..but when I was at school, would finish school at 4, get train, walk to yard and be there by about 4.45 to ride, muck out etc. Leave about 6.30- I am now v speedy mucking out in order to have longer to ride!!
Now I'm on study leave I have loads more time (revision? what's that? ;) ) although it is stressful when things go wrong, eg yesterday I had 3 GCSEs, then had to spend 3 hours at the yard in the evening as horse was having an unexplained panic and point blank refused to go into his stable :(
ETS to say I am lucky to have lovely fellow liveries who will bring in/turn out as a favour when I'm having a night out :D

I love my horse which makes it worth it, and i know that without putting in the work in term time (fitness and schooling wise) I wouldn't be able to compete at weekends and in holidays...but god I am jealous of those lucky people with horsy parents!! :o

i'm struggling massively at the moment, with raff on diy at a yard, iggle at home, 3 kids, a hubby who works shifts a million miles away, a fulltime job and training for a new career. there aren't enough hours in the day. today i haven't managed to poo pick raff, poo pick iggle, do any washing/housework because my youngest is poorly. and i literally can't put her down. i feel terrible that my family are being neglected. i have eaten supper with them probably five times since raff broke his leg. my toddler has started wetting the bed, and getting clingy too. and i blame myself. we used to have such a set little routine/family life. but there's nothing i can do, until raff's fixed and home. or until i'm rich enough to afford full livery!

i'm sure it will get better, it's only temporary... like exams. soon they'll be over and we'll all be looking back smiling :)

I'm in year 10, and I have some science GCSE's coming up, so I'm riding for about 1/2 an hour maybe twice in the week, and then at the weekend. Can't wait until they're all over, my poor mum is being a groom and my sister is helping out by riding my pony, so he's being kept fit :) ah well, nearly the summer holidays, so the end's in sight!

Throughout school life I had a pretty good routine - if you get it sorted earlier makes it much easier :) this is how I did it through GCSEs and A levels and still managed to get AAB at a level ;) I also competed throughout my A levels!

3.50pm home from school
4.10pm arrive at yard, bring horse in, muck out/groom/other yard duties
4.40pm (appx.) ride horse
5.50pm finish up with horse, hay/feed etc.
6.15 home. dinner
6.40 tv time (yep!) till 7.30. also included internet time :)
8pm start revising
revise till do what I wanted - sometimes till 2am.

Horses fed at 7am and turfed out for day!

6th form was easier because I studied in school (we had a choice home or school study) and then was able to do horses in evening and go to pc rallies etc.

You can get it working if you make sure you use your time properly - remember its quality NOT quantity.

Also, night before exam cramming works wonders ;)

MOLLYA - My boy is TB on DIY (Assisted luckily!) and my parents are not very horsey either!

I think I am going to have to get quicker mucking out! Good tips there people! :D

i am doing my gcse exam atm, although it does help that i have sorta sutdy leave but i have to go to school for a exam every day,
if my exam is at 2:00 i genrally leave my house at 12, and i get home about 5, i wont ride in the mornings as parents at work and i am not allowed to ride with no one here as we have only had the horse for 2 weeks,
i am genrally up to do the horse at about 7, everyhting is fed and watered, turned out and brought in by around 7:30, depending on if i need to much out or anything
when i get home i do some revision befoer going to ride, parents dont get home till abtou 7 so i ride then as soon as they get home, this means i have about 2 hours revsiion genrally finished riding mucking out feeding by about 8:30 go and eat shower do about anouther hour of revsion and sleep.
it does help though that the horse is now at home.
hope it helps but dont worry exams finish in a few weeks time so you will have more time to do the horse
