I am really struggling this year - had plenty of calls last year but this year its quite quiet. Don't know if its just South Wales, or the time of year but I have a very useful horse here just waiting for a new sharer to come and enjoy him!

Anyone else struggling?

I think its probably more competitive due to the recession and other things, particularly as we're still in the middle of winter. Lots of people are looking for help with their horses at the moment, so I think 'good' sharers can afford to be quite picky and look around for a really good deal.

Not here, we found a fantastic sharer though someone on HHO!

Guess I've been lucky as found a wonderful sharer for my boy. But then my friend has really struggled to find a sharer, she had someone come to try her horse really liked each other so arranged her days etc... Day before she was meant to start she texted pulling out!!

I am struggling to find too, and I am Essex/london...... doesn't help that it is winter and she is a little full of herself at the moment. Thought I had found the perfect sharer before christmas, but that one fell though much to my disapointment

I know a couple of horsey friends, all ages, looking for a "share" (not really a share, more a W4R), including myself but, due to family problems the financial income needed in the share is causing all issues.
That's not really the point of the post though is it..., sorry

- though it could have something to do with it?

Anyway, on topic, I wouldn't say the share market is completely blank, there are people out there but, I agree with xspiralx about people who can afford it are being careful with where they go

Good luck!

i have had a few replies to my ad for raff... but they all scare me slightly... and i haven't actually met with anyone yet...

i'm offering free share, unlimited riding/competing on a safe, sane schoolmaster... everyone that is replying seems to be either complete novice (he's safe enough, but i'd prefer someone with some experience) who say things like 'i've always liked horses', or people that haven't ridden for 30yrs, or scary people...

i've decided to reword my ad. maybe even make a small charge...

so, in answer to your question (i don't half waffle on)... whilst i've had interest, none of them seem suitable at all...so yes, i'm struggling...

i have my 6yr old welsh D up for share/part loan, is advertised as green as he has not done much due to me having no rider (daughter lost interest) and person who was riding him has moved to other side of country. and me wanting a adult rider - like many i get young teenagers, many from the local riding school who have basically just mastered walk trot and canter on a riding school horse (if i lucky they got that far) with the i love horses they are my life attitude. He is not silly or unsafe but i just want someone who i dont have to watch the whole time and be there for and for me to know that my horse is being used sensibly

Had my 16h1 advertised for quite a while for share but said I wanted an adult sharer as he can be a little dominant on the ground but perfectly safe to ride etc. Had a couple of people over to 'try' him and they indicated they wanted to share but then pulled out.

Very frustrating at the moment with the weather etc and may be people are worried about losing jobs so don't want to take on another financial committment (where contributions are required).

I hope that things change for the better soon and may be the lighter evenings will get more people interested in sharing again.
