I have always been taught to praise a horse when it does well - not just tell it off. So after 3 pretty dicy tips to the field this morn as we have an iceberg to negotaiate, i was there patting each one and saying good boy, good girl, steady etc.

Drove over it in the car and i said "whoa, steady, good car" - truely this weather has affected me !

I always talk to my car - I'm usually apologising to her!!!

If my car behaves its called princess and other nice names. If on the other hand it should break down (rarely *crosses fingers* ) then it is called some rather nasty names usually beginning with B

Every time my car made it up the slope to my yard when it was frozen solid and no one else could make it I patted her steering wheel and told her she was a good girl

I don't really talk to my car.....................More screaming verbal abuse.

Yeah we had a car years ago that responded much better to being hurled abuse at - was a Nissan Cherry

Yes, absolutely. I have an obsessive relationship with Joey, my first car. When I bought her I didn't have a horse and she totally became a surrogate for horses for me. We used to hack out etc. I kiss her goodbye or goodnight and so forth

I am always talking to her (she is semi-retired now) and even the mechanic (whom she needs quite frequently, nowadays) refers to her as Joey (as opposed to 'your car') - everybody knows she is called Joey!

The Mini is called Joules and I do talk to her too but it's a less significant relationship in my mind.

My car is called Julian, he gets a stroke and a pat when he starts first time as he doesn't always and when I change lanes on the motorway I always imagine I'm leg yielding...

Totally. Normal. Behaviour. IMO.

My kids despair of me because I talk to everything

.
My current car is called Beasty, my last was Bessy, another was Winnie (cos she was the colour of Pooh

) and my first was Yellow Peril cos she was old and....yellow!
Not quite sure why I name them or why I talk to most things and maybe it's best for me not to analyse it too much either

Ooh, I'm so glad it isn't just me!
My car gets a "thank you car" when I arrive at destination ad i also pat it's steering wheel. Also has a name (Perky). I never shout at it, cus I love my car, but no where nearly as much as my horse...

i do. mine is brill- doesnt even flinch at the pressure hose when getting bathed.and his canter pirouttes are brill!
i also like to pat him when big lorries go past on the motorway...
he is called platty.

QR I always talk to my car, especially recently - telling him he's a clever boy for getting me through some particularly bad stuff. The road to the farm is rather unused as there are only 2 other houses on it, over Christmas I had to go up 3 times a day as YO was away and I was looking after all 23 ponies and 3 goats!

Some people with 4x4s wouldn't have gone down there but my Golfie didn't put a wheel wrong.

I think by personifying the car it makes me feel safer as I'm not out there on my own.

I also strongly believe I can slow him down just by rubbing my finger on his steering wheel and saying 'whoa boy'!!
