Anyone else using a grazing muzzle?

Yes, for the first week I give him a new section of the field he gets his muzzle on to stop him guzzling. The grass is long and fallow but with the mild temps we are having between bouts of it being bloody freezing here I’m not discounting the sugar content of the grass.

The summer section of the field which is shorter from it being his track is a worrying green colour for the time of year. I’ll be glad once the sheep are on it in the spring to scalp it before he gets back on it as at this rate it will be lush green and a dangerous length.

I'm not because the field is looking brown and moth eaten but my EMS one had a solid crest last night so I'm a bit worried. I'm not kidding myself there's nothing out there but it's Dec so I was hoping just nibbles

My mares had hers back on the past couple of weeks, the grass is growing at a ridiculous rate where I am. I threw some seed down on some bare bits at the beginning of December and it’s already sprouting!

Yes, mine are on limited turnout (on the grass-free turnout and yard most of the time, then about 3-4 hrs a day allowed to bog off up the track to their winter field). EMS mare is muzzled to go on the grass.

Yes. Pony's had it on since they moved into the winter field. He's also got a sweet itch rug on, which is a first. He's usually Ok naked in December and January but the midges are loving this wet and mild weather.
