Anyone else with a 2009 baby who's going through an ugly phase!!??

I have 2 'now' yearlings!! One 10 month old cob, who looks except being very hairy! all in proportion etc, a bit bum high at the mo but still looks good! And I have an 11 month old warmblood cross who really is going through a horrible stage!! He's levelled off but has grown a really long neck suddenly!! And it is so thin!! So he has a nice body, long legs, and a long neck, and his shoulders seem to jut out infront!!!! Oh god I've bred a giraffe!!!!!!!!!

Please let me see pics of other yearlings looking bad, so I can feel better about my boy hahahaha!!!!!

But in answer, yes, look at my sig, he was six months in this, he still has the big belly but is ribby (all wormed to date) skinny neck and big head, thank god he moves well or I'd be worried!

They all go through ugly stages and 8 months (ish) is probably the worst....so don't worry, your ugly duckling will probably be a swan in late Spring 2010

My rising two year old is just totally disproportionate at the moment. I think they call it being a 'long yearling' ?
Either way he looks like a giraffe.
And hes suddenly had a premature bout of terrible two's. Attempting to double barrel cars.. *sigh*

Don't worry we always have a bunch of llamas at this time of year, I think the almost yearling phase and almost 2 yr old phase are the worst, one of my almost 2 looks like Rodney out of only fools and horses - all legs with a body stuck on top - he's just over 16Hh which is rather scary too!!! They look nice after a couple of months at grass!!

I adore this little horse but one would have to be very charitable to say she was a beautiful baby! I don't think she'll ever win prizes for prettiest mare but she has fabulous paces, absolutely floats, and I'd take her sweet nature over a cute face anyday. Her Dam is in foal again, which I didn't know when I bought her, to the same grade stallion

I wonder what the full sibling will look like?

Ballyshan: Is that the Lux Z? I think he looks fab....I'd rather have them tall and gangly than short and stuffy at this age. He'll grow into that frame and when he does he'll be gorgeous~!
