When in public F sometimes loves nothing more than to puff himself up like a bird puffing its feathers up to impress a lady!

I presume its because he was a stallion for a while. He certainly isn't a rig. But if he's feeling a bit fruity and if there's a mare (or sometimes a gelding, he has been known to get it wrong

) he quite takes a fancy to, he'll grow a hand taller and and puff his chest out and I swear his walk changes to a swagger too! If I'm riding and he does it he often drops the contact and shakes his head a little in a mini strop!! He'll also do it if he's a bit scared of something or a bit fresh. Its very funny and harmless. If a mare actually ahem... shows an interest in him, he goes very coy and shy. He would never take it any further. Must be yet another case of Spring's here!

Anyone else's gelding think themselves to be a bit of a stud muffin at times???

God yes! Had a miniature Shetland colt who wasn't gelded until he was 2ish. Never used as a stallion but my goodness, didn't he like to show off sometimes!!

He'd squeal at mares & get on his tippy toes & prance along, was so funny. S (14.3hh my mare) used to look at him as much as to say "You pr@tt!"

Mind you, she has no room to talk, she's a right little flirt. Actually, I'd go so far as to say a tart!!

Oho. Where do I start?! My dominant gelding lived for several years with 6 mares, a harem if you like..! Now he's stuck with another gelding but when the mares down the road hack past his field, he mercilessly beats up the other one, stands up very tall with his tail up like an Arab horse, all the time making this chuntering noise like a stallion! He's a terrible wimp showjumping but when the mares are about, he pops our 5 bar gate no problem and goes off to strut his stuff. Occasionally he gets confused and performs for the nearby geldings as well, takes him about 5 minutes to work out that they are not really interested in him..!

Beemer, the chestnut dressage horse in my siggie strip is the ultimate ladies man! He was gelded at 8 months (as soon as he could be done) as he was such a brat as a baby. He doesn't actually have to make an effort with the ladies because they all take on look at him and declare their undying love for him. He is turned out in a mixed field of 3 girlies and 6 boys... The girls follow him around the field fluttering their eyelashes all day. If bemmy decides he wants a drink, his harem will follow him down to the trough. If Beemy fancies a snooze in the woods at the top of the field, the girlies will join him for a little four-some. It isn't just mare either, kids are exactly the same with him too! The number of very tiny children I have seen hanging off his legs while he lovingly nuzzles them is too numerous to count... The irony is that with any big person other then me, he is an absolute brat! Or should I say typical man...?!

I have the opposite problem - when my mare spots a handsome gelding she puffs up and swaggers past them batting her eyelashes

Sidneys a ladies man to the hilt. Last year i had to stand blushing with embarassment as I walked down to his field accompanied by the young lass who owned the pony he was turned out with and came across them "cuddling" each other furiously. It was very very embarassing - especially when the girl asked what they were doing.
He is besotted by a chesnut mare on our yard which is causing a b1tch fight between her and another mare who has the hots for Sid.

rowan is the ultimate in ladies man...he goes through all the mares in the herrd..they all take turns...he prefer to show off around females humans though!!

Hmmm. F just likes to think he is a ladies man. Then when they say yes please he gets shy, will only look at them from behind the cover of his mane and shuffles his feet a bit.

I have no idea how he sired the daughter that he had - presumably hormones made him forget his shyness!

Nope, but my mates stallion is a ladyboy with a soft spot for sheep.
Honestly!!!!
To get him up for it we have to let him see his friend Bernie the sheep. He gets excited about geldings but put a mare in front of him and he's lost!!
(To date he is yet to sire anything but kept entire as owner thinks its too late in the day to geld)

Merlin Loooooves the ladies....... will spend the whole day by the fence if they are in season, showing his 'appreciation' for all to see.

He was cut late and I think no one told him. He did live with a mare for a bit and they were soooo in love, but I didnt ever see him go any further ever.

I cant turn him out now, next to mares and with geldings as he beasts them all away from the fence and it causes fights

Yes! Its spring and my gelding is puffing himself up and not letting the other geldings talk to the girls over the fence. He was gelded late and hasn't forgotten. He rides like a stallion and is very interested in other horses when he's out and about. Its quite useful at shows as he does look very impressive but is essentially harmless!
