most of the horses on our yard seem to be suffering from spring fever!! they have all gone a bit loopy....even the really quiet ones!!

My lad is one of the quiet horses but even he is being a handful out on hacks, he has run off with me 3 times now and no matter what I try to slow him down doesnt work. He has never done anything like this before, he is normally a real steady, trustworthy guy, I dont know whats gotten into him.

All mine are a bit off their rockers at the moment, I'd hate to be riding some of them! Maiden is prone to running around which is very unusual for her, Darcy and Libby the youngsters are cantering round every five minutes. Berlin is loopy in the field although quite well-behaved when ridden. The three cobs Berlin is out with are going nuts too! I reckon it's the wind at the moment, but last Saturday apparently a lot of horses were quite silly and it wasn't windy or anything! Strange!

Mine too just put a question on re bucking leaping etc you might like to give me your opinion on mad horse!!!!!

Mine toooooo..

Put it down to doing less work and committed myself to having to hack my most troublesome one in a pelham usually reserved for xc and jumping. Decided today though that wasn't going to let her get away with it and schooled in my field (have to hack to get to outdoor school and weather not going to hold). In a snaffle. And she was fab... and it was windy and raining..

Think it's just less frequent riding and my bigger mare thinks she's alpha all of a sudden.

Have decided need to asert more authority as she's always great at weekends when ridden both days.

My boy is absolutly full of himself at the moment. Think the weather has something to do with it though, its got colder and very windy

mine have been going really mad,

Mine has been an utter pain for weeks now, he has been so bad ridden, I even put a post on here asking for advice. He has been especially bad hacking, he and I parted company last week - a very spectacular dismount over his ears - for the first time ever - I have owned him 4yrs and dealt with a fair bit from him but he has never bucked me off over his head before, I was quite surprised to be on the floor!

Am glad to read from the post that it isn't just mine, every horse owner I know seems to be dealing with some full on behaviour at the moment!

Mine has gone bonkers! The only place I have to ride at the moment is the stubble field (not the best place) and my 19 year old decided yesterday that anything under 100mph was too slow!! She leapt up, all four legs off the ground and bolted, took me the length of the field to get into a more contolled canter - good fun though!! Who said 19 year olds were over the hill eh?!!

I was going to ask this the other week. I was thrown off last week, we gallop everywhere & she bucks & bronks constantly. I've put it down to her being clipped a cold snap & the fructus in the grass having one last spurt before winter....great isn't it
