Got my lad in yesterday and he looked like a hamster with huge pouches..
rang the vet and she advised me to keep him in and expalined what was wrong, hes had it before but not as bad as he has this time.
Anyone else has this problem, he seems fine but looks very sorry for himself :-(

Yes, my pony came in with it one day. Que me panicking and calling vet all in a rush to be advised to keep her in off of the grass until they had gone down (which they will in a couple of days). She's had them all summer, every time I put her back out on the grass she comes back in with them. Apparently it's very popular with all of the sugars in the grass setting off the salivary glands to the point where they are over producing. Don't worry, I'm sure your horse will be fine :) Oh and I find they come up worse on short grass rather than long!

yeah grass glands, but because hes had his head down grazing the fluid had gone into his cheeks, they were back to normal by morning, :-) weird though :-/

I rotate his paddocks every 3 or 4 weeks and hes just moved on to the rested one, there dosnt look much on there but there obviously is, hes just got a bit greedy by the sounds of it. :-)
