I already hate winter, moved yards end of last winter, new yard just in better location and horse much more chiled out.
However, all lanes around yard are currently icy even in middle of day and i wouldnt feel safe if a car came too quick. The arena is also rock solid at present so horses are all enjoying an enforced holiday and im hoping it either snows or thaws!!
Anyone else?

Yep. Determined to hack today - there were big soft patches on the yard, and I thought if we could just reach the quiet roads we'd be fine. Got 500 yards down the grass track and got off and led back home. Into the arena, once round it on foot and straight back out - frozen solid!

Yep :( Road I get to access bridlepaths and side roads by is icey. Field is like a bog. No outdoor..

Thinking about giving the young one the winter off as he's getting a little stiff the morning after jumping (I think its a case of doing a bit too much too young in his previous homes), hoping turning him away will help him.

Will jump on the mare next time the road isn't icey :o

I'm riding mine more now than I have done since September!!!!

I think it's as the normal ones are too precious and less than ideally suited to ride out in current conditions, where-as my motley crew, are all-terrain steeds so I'm making the most of free time to ride them out! :p

Yep moved to a new yard in june and it's fantastic as all year 24/7 turnout, but the arena has been frozen the past few days and doesn't get harrowed so can't use it. Getting to the bridleway means crossing a fairly busy road and even though it's only like 20m down the road, I don't trust pony enough with it being icey to get to it as he can play up sometimes.

So decided he's going to have it easy till after christmas just hacking out when we can and get in the school when its not frozen. He had a busy summer so be good for him to chill out now ready for next season.
