Anyone else's horse lost shoe for 4th time?!!!

Haven't ridden since early August as my TB x ID keeps losing his near fore, had it put back on last Thursday, lost it again last night. He's had a history of white line disease in his other foot (white one) but I follow my vets intructions and use the solution he gave me. Farrier says no sign of WLD in any hoof and we're mystified why this one! Since he started losing it I feed him Top Spec No1 hoof supplement and use Keratex twice a week.

He's off work recovering from a neck abscess so not fit enough to ride anyway but he gets footsore. Have ordered him an easy boot as a back up.

Must be the weather!!!

I think he's pulling it off somehow, he does spook easily especially the crows and millions of rabbits in his paddock

You'd thought he be used to them by now! The the quality of the horn was good - I say was as he's got a few small cracks but I've seen worse. Wondered about getting the physio out earlier than planned to give him the once over. Maybe he's got a twinge. Come to think of it saddle is long overdue for checking. May not be connected but got to look into everything I suppose.

I agree "bloomin nuisance" especially when you've entered dressage and show classes!
 
in the spring my horse lost both front shoes twice in 2 weeks and lost that much hoof in the process thet she had to go without shoes for a couple of months till there was enough hoof growth to nail a shoe on. i put it down to the ground drying out and goning from very wet mud to being very sticky and sucking the shoes off. my mare is prone to losing a shoe but nothing like that!
 
I would try a different farrier too. My freinds horse kept looing shoes and its feet were in poor shape. I kept trying to get her to change farriers. She eventually changed to mine and he kept them on and his feet were fine once they grew back.
 
Very easy cure. Most front shoes are lost by horse over reaching and pulling them off. Turn out in over reach boots and problem is solved. Have saved myself £ by doing this.
 
I had this problem - I know my horses diet is fine so put it down to the weather as wet and warm especially in August when I was loosing shoes for a pastime.
I used a hoof hardener - NAF hoof and foot which was about £9 for a couple of weeks to toughen up the foot to stop loosing a shoe and recently have been using conucrescine to improve the quality/quantity of the hoof. It has worked well and his feet look a lot better and I have not lost a shoe yet!
