Ellie is in the most awful p155ie with me, and I have no idea why! Every time I give her her dinner, she pins her ears back, every time rug her up, she tries to bite me, and when I let her free in the yard she trots off to the furthest corner to escape me!

I have very hurt feelings; I bought her a lovely new Likit for christmas (which she has wrecked already), and she wont even let me fuss her and give her kissies! She's normally quite mareish, but this is taking it to the extreme!

My mare is an absolute pig in the winter. She tries to bite me every time I even touch her rugs! Has done for the past three years but come summer is a lovely horse again.

Mine seems to be coming out of it ever so slightly but she actually bit my OH last week when he was doing her rugs. She does think she is the boss of him though so he's working on that!

She didn't use to be miserable in the winter only really since she's been fully mature. My 4 year old is still sweet so hope she doesn't go the same way

mine gets mardy because she gets stabled when shes out for a couple of days shes a happy bunny but if she is in all day (due to weather/ ground) or even if shes only in at night she sulks it happens every winter unless she is living out

Yep... but hes had a week off due to me so he always gets grumpy when hes not working

Yep - she's horrible just now and is another one who takes a bite at you when fastening rugs. I am away for Christmas so hope she doesn't disgrace herself and bite my friends who are kindly looking after her! Have bought extra wine pressies just in case!

Darcy has been in a stinking mood ever since I moved her into a new field. She now has more grass, less space, but no mare and foal next door (everyone kept escaping and new field has hedge all the way round). She's awful and kicked the **** out of my horse the other day for no reason! Even the other youngster has taken to grazing with my horse now instead of Darcy!

My boy is grumpy all year round, I think he hates me! But he is always worse in the winter, I think its because he is in rugs most of the time except when its a real nice sunny day, but he curls his lip at me when I bring him in from the field now, looks like Rod Hulls Emu! He was the same with his previous owner just its not just me, does make you feel a bit peeved when you struggle to feed and muck them out in the freezing cold.

I am so glad im not the only one suffering with a grumpy horse.

My boy has always hated being rugged, groomed and touched in general! There is nothing wrong with him physically but putting his rugs on is a trial in itself.

He bites at the front end and waves his legs around at the back end.
He has been far worse in this cold weather and obviously hates having cold rugs put on his naked body

(understandable i spose!!)
I started to wonder if it was just me that had to suffer this abuse from my horse.

Rosie is a always a bit of a mizog at this time of the year. I thought it was because she hates winter like I do, but now I'm thinking it's because we don't go out competing like we do all summer. Thought she'd like the break, but it seems not!

She doesn't like the constant changing of rugs which is why I tend to put her in one and then leave it be.
