I just wondered if the weather change has made the grass come through which is causing my normally chilled out horses to be alittle fresh! i.e running round the field like loons, lively leading in and out and silly when ridden. My other thought was it because their winter coats were coming through? We have also had one with colic which seems to grass related. Anyone else?

I haven't noticed much difference with my two, although a lot of horses go through strange episodes with weird weather (which we definitely have at the moment! 28 degrees in october!)

Yup!!

Ours were going mad the other day, running around like lunatics! It was red hot aswell and they consequently were sweating buckets!! Silly neds!!

My lot have just started to calm down now. We had a few weeks with general rowdy behaviour and a lot of heels being kicked up while being ridden and out in the field.

thanks 4 replies glad im not alone. ours were running around like loons and then coming in all sweated up coz theyve started to get their winter coats!

Yep. I have 25 total idiots at the moment, and when anyone can call Quarter Horses idiots they have to be bad as usually they are more or less comatose;)

I watched one of the fillies (14.2h 3 y.o) sail over a 4'6" fence this morning and land in an 8' deep drain, stoopid horse  (she's fine, it has been raining and the storm drain was about 4' of water) I was going to concentrate on selling her as a barrel/pole horse but her education may take a different direction after todays exhibition.

Markie has been in bolshy cob mood for about a week and is constantly having to be reminded of his manners.
Yesterday, he was going by his Latin name...................Cobnobasaurus!

We've got moody weirdness too...am putting it down to blistering hot weather (literally, he's sunburnt :( ) and general 2yo sec d angst. But definitely noticeable, whatever the reason. Oh, also it's windy. And there's an 'R' in the month...and I've been ill so am merely general handling ('pah! yuk, get off me I'm a boy I don't do cream or spray or any kind of being cared for!') rather than working on the ground, which keeps his moody mind occupied...

My cob was having a right good gallop round the field today! Usually have to feed instant energy mix and ProPell to get him to move  :D

My youngster was going sideways coming in yesterday until she headbutted my knee. :/
Didn't help horses in fields on both sides were bucking for Scotland.
