My pony shares a field with one other horse. They managed to eat it down between them in a month or so, and now with the snow (the pittance of snow we had anyway!) there is little left to eat.
Because of this, me and the other horse's owner have recently started putting down hay for them to eat.
Her mare eats her portion up fine, but my little'un doesn't want to know! I've wasted about a bale out there only for him to turn his nose up at it!

I know it's not the hay itself as he manages fine when it's in his haynet at night.

Anyone else finding this with their horses??

My three have some grass still, though it has been frozen. I've been giving a slice of haylage to the 4yo dartmoor & he hoovers every scrap & slice between my girls (15.3hh Polish WB type & 12.1hh welshie) they are picking at it but its taking them 24hrs to nearly clear it. They too have the same stuff when in & eat it. Dont worry - as long has he's ok in all other ways, if he's hungry he'll eat it!
