I lunged my big lad today for the first time since nov, only for 5 mins but hey-ho!
I had him in the Kavalkade training aid, and he worked beautifully in it, in walk and trot.

He then decided he wanted to canter, but because he had the aid on, he couldn't get his head in the air. Thus causing the ultimate tantrum , his knees were above his head, feet stricking out, then bucking and some squealing and grunting. So funny, his eye was all cross.

Then we settled down into a lovely collected canter, even though he's got no muscle on him, he still looks fab!

Made me realise how much i've missed working him and how amazing he actually is, he's still a 3yo in his brain...

I'll make sure I get some photos next time!

Yes indeedy, my 19 year old was like a 3 year old after the snow/lameness off for 3 weeks, was snorting and squealing bless him.

I swear he, much like humans, doesn't feel any different inside and it is just the old bones holding him back.
:)

Yep, my 19 year old cob stood completely unconcerned while three trials bikes slowly went by him... then had a fruit loop when he saw them half a mile away going up a track... by then they were THE HUNT and were deeply exciting - pillock!
