I know I don't post often like Hovis or anything but I thought some of you might like to know;

My mother is NOT past it!!

I had worried we may have to PTS as I doubt she'd retire well. This weekend we have been on 2 big long hacks, and jumped little scrubby brushy things.

Yesterday we went for a hack down the road and ended up at our local UK chasers course. At that point I was sure mom had lost it. I mean, really, for ages we have done nothing more fun than 2ft6 in the school and the odd twig or diddy ditch out hacking and she tiddles herself and spooks at those.

For some reason The Shoe was in front which I was not happy about as I have always been lead horse when out xc with The Shoe, despite being 6 inches taller than me she is sooo slow with silly little strides. Still, Auntie The Sharer rode her very well and she didn't duck out of much or dawdle too badly and I was able to get a reasonable rhythm going between fences.

Of almost 40 fences, Mom only bottled out of a hedge, the big plastic V shaped one which to be honest I don't like, the down hill one which she has never let me jump, the palasaid (sp) which I was gutted about as it meant opening another gate (I can only just see over the gates so opening them is hard work being petit) and it looked really nice, still, she has promised we will jump it next time (next time, call a people vet someone she is having a fit!!) the HUUUGE table which I am not sure about but may convince her to jump next time if I am feeling brave, and the coffin which no matter what she does I am NEVER going NEAR!

Yes people and ponios, my mother stayed on board and didn't tiddle on my lovely party saddle over 30+ fences!! Some of them were pretty meaty and fun too!! I got a little embarrassed when I followed The Shoe and realised I'd missed a jump, that would be why Auntie The Sharer was shouting at The Shoe and Mom was flapping at me on one side! I made a lovely effort when she let me have another go though!

I'm BACK, and I haven't dropped Mom! She kept hugging me and kissing my neck when we got back and I got a day off today to rest my sore mouth (it's pink so I get sunburn and I may have got a little frustrated stuck behind the bog-trotting Irish lump and pulled just a touch!). Apparently tomorrow I can go back in the hackamore for a day or two to rest.

Oh and Mom tells me 'next time' may be next week and some more of our friends are coming! It must be the spring grass, such a relief as I am quite fond of the old dear and it would have been such a shame to have to start schooling a new one!

(I'm sort of hoping Hovis might like a girl who can be one of the boys and keep up with the fun stuff, without loosing her femininity?!)

A bit long but has anyone else had a great weekend with their people having extra days off? Apparently they have another extra weekend next week!

Carrots

Beau.
