anyone fancy casting an eye over a horse for me?

Thanks all who have commented, I decided not to view that horse on the back of a few of the comments above and the fact that his age is right at the top end of the bracket we were looking at as I really hope for a good while longer with this next one. SOOOOO we’ve seen another one for sale….. again a TB this time a chestnut mare 16.1 4 yrs of age with a dealer in hereford. Advertised as a very sweet, quiet mare even suitable for a riding school! Some nice photos and a video of it cantering steadily in an open field. Has anyone seen it on FB also?

No I’ve not seen her . Has she raced? 4 is very young otherwise for a ridden horse
 
It seems like a funny photo to use in an advertisement. Yes, it will be eye=catching, but it's easy to use an eye-catching, attractive photo of a horse cantering in a field. It seems to me that a buyer would like to see more than that: photos of the horse under a rider, for instance. I would be warey of this seller (but I am cynical). Do be careful though.

If it's MH who is selling then she has a very good reputation. I've not seen the advert though.

OK. Check on the four dodgy dealers sites on Faceache. Each one, the sellers name in the search bar at the top of the page.

And also check the name they deal from I.e LH horses as an example.
 
A 4yr old TB isnt going to be suitable. Can you wait a bit and up your budget? Finding a safe, sound mother daughter share is hard enough with tons of money but on a low budget its damn near impossible. You seem to be considering anything that you can afford, which is always tempting, but I think in your situation you need to be more selective.

Can you give us a list of what you need and what you absolutely cant have and an idea of budget?
 
Ok, here is the list…. I don’t think we’re too exacting but I guess I’m looking for what everyone wants! On a very meagre budget of up to £3.5k also open to loan?

1) 15.1hh upwards as teen daughter is 5ft 6 with long legs
2) a happy hacker both alone and in company, that enjoys their work with a good purposeful walk but is safe and sane if life/weather means we don’t get out for a week
3) no heavy and hairies, nothing against them just my hips are tight and I’d like to try low level endurance this year
4) must stable overnight in the winter as per livery rules
5) must be healthy and sound after the heartbreak of coblet going lame
6) we don’t have a school on the yard but daughter would like to attend the odd fortnightly local RC clinic and pop a jump up to 50cm!!
6) above all must be kind, gentle to lead and handle as we also have a 9yr son who loves the ponies and being with them

If anyone knows of any unicorns fitting the bill please let me know?
We’re loving riding our share horses (an ID and an OTTB) but would love another of our own to shower with love.

What sort of location radius are you looking in? So we can keep an eye out for you :) With your budget, I'd imagine that TBs or Standardbreds would be your best bet.
 
Resurecting this thread. as I'm STILL looking, after the potential loan horse whilst lovely just wasn't right for my teen daughter (too small at a fine 15hh) and also wouldn't have thrived on the tracked, no grass livery yard we intend to return to.
Also I cant seem to shake off the idea that I fancy an arab, a hankering further stoked by me riding on several occasion one of a friends geldings, an arab x NF that competes endurance at a high level up to 64kms!

One has just caught my eye on FB!

Wouldn't an arab also be too small and fine for your daughter?

I understand the annoyance of looking for one! I would say that I’m 5’7 with stupidly long legs and all of my horses thus far have been between 14-15hh, however I am very lightweight and don’t do much jumping. It might be worthwhile being more flexible on height for the right horse because for me it was a case of getting used to smaller horses, might be different in your situation though?

I would say that (in my experience at least) any ad that describes a 4yo as a perfect mother-daughter share that can do anything should be taken with a supersized bucket of salt in my opinion.

Also, any horse can do a bit of endurance, particularly with the right fitness training! I’m planning on doing endurance with my loan cob over summer (very comfy sofa-like paces).

I think a fit and well muscled 15.2 would be a great size for her. I think I’ve maybe painted the wrong picture she’s just a disproportionately long legged 5ft 6 curvy teen, probably weighing a smidge under 11 stone.

Right, im 5ft 9 weigh 56kg, and ride 14.2's regularly. Get something nice and easy... a connemara or irish sport horse would fit the bill. if you want a youngster desirous horses is the way to go.
