Just wondered how much to feed to meet lysine requirements of my 610 kg horse? He's a good doer so only gets HiFi lite and his vit/mins but our hay/grazing doesn't provide sufficient lysine. How much should I feed him a day? He also needs mag ox, copper and zinc bioplex which I add to his chaff.

I feed them for weight gain.

Not an expert but have done a feed profile with feedxl for my horse and it was so helpful for me to see what makes up each feed requirement ... When I look at his lysine he gets 35% of his from regular grass and hay, 20% from soya flakes (300g a day), another 10% from balancer etc... (though diet assessment reckons he is getting 170% of the lysine he needs!).

It might be worth trying something like feedxl to figure out what you need to feed, maybe a balancer can give you what you need instead of 3 separate supplements?

If you've had your grass analysed you'd be better to feed lysine as a straight mineral to the balanced amount.

Id never ever feed soya to horses straight, its bad enough most mixes are laced with the stuff - horses arent developed to eat it.
