Anyone from or has lived in the Netherlands?

Hi all
I'm just trying to find out what the approximate cost of keeping a horse is in the netherlands. DIY livery type thing. And also, if anyone has any websites with horses for sale in the netherlands, like we have horsemart etc, is there any specific to the netherlands? Any additional info regarding keeping horses in the netherlands will be appriciated

Hi I am dutch,
We're are you thinking of keeping a horse because area can be a big issue.
I have kept horses in holland my whole life. I would the biggest difference between the uk and the Netherlands I would say is hacking, far fewer bridleways or off road hacking, still great hacking (again depending on the area) but just very different and of course flat so no hill work to get horses fit or build bum muscles.
The other thing is minimal cross country facilities. SJ and mainly Dressage are big. But in general I would say better facilities with regards to stabling / field / etc. having said that in lots of areas natural field shelter is less available. Again flat and the wind can pick up.

It'll be Arnhem area. Just want a get a general idea of how much it costs for stabling, hay, straw, feed etc etc. Just a rough estimate. I'm thinking of going to uni there to study life sciences or animal sciences, and i know that the unis i'm looking at, you can bring your own horse, but they don't give any idea of how much it costs, they also can't tell me the realities of having a horse there so thought i might ask on here

We have lived here for 10 years now and had horses just about all that time on livery here. The standard of care, turn out and facilities vary enormously from province to province. Even in the area we live in, the cost of livery can vary from €200 a month to €350 a month depending on the facilities and everything is sooo much more expensive over here.
The best place to ask is www.bokt.nl. This is the Dutch equivalent of HHo. Don't worry about the language as most Dutch speak English very well.
Or..... You could always ask my daughter Four Seasons on here. She knows people all over the Netherlands so could get some really good info for you.
