I am possibly moving to Maidstone soon and will need a nice livery yard or small yard to rent to myself. Can anyone recommend any to me? I will be looking for DIY for three ponies.

Also is it a good area for horses? I compete a little and would want to join a riding club too.

Thanks

There is a small yard to rent about 5 miles south of Maidstone near Linton at the moment.

Not sure how much it is, but that would be about 5miles from Duckhurst, 7/8 miles from Cobham.

There is a riding club again about 5 miles away i think in Burham way - i'm not a member though so don't take my word on that one!

Ah thanks for the info. Do you know how big the yard to rent is? Do you have any contact details for it?

I dont know the area very well at all so it is all a bit scary!!

Do you keep your horse in a livery yard?

thanks

Im in Maidstone and keep my horse at Leybourne. The yard is very nice but has a waiting list. We have 2 schools and lovely grazing. If im right in what yard Lill is talking about, i wouldnt go near it!! I looked there when they were advertising livery spaces (last people that run it), the grazing is crap and on a slope by the railway line and didnt have a school last i knew!! ETD - they also have alot of problems with break ins etc that area...pikies..sorry

There are some nice yards around but they fill up quickly. A friend of mine has a yard in Burham, school, XC course etc PM if you want number, she may have spaces.

Regarding Riding Clubs, the main local one is Maidstone Riding Club, which i belong to and im on the comittee of haha. We do lots of shows/clinics/qualifiers throughout the year and everyone is really nice. We have a website if you look online. We mainly use yards around Maidstone, and the one at Burham for clinics etc and use Duckhurst occasionally.

There is also others around, depending where you living near i.e Sevenoaks, Faversham....i'd join Maidstone tho hehe

I mean the one down Linton Hill, just past Redwall Lane (on your right) and its down a small lane on your left ? Is that the one you're thinking of?

Just noticed the sign as i drove past!

There is also livery yard down lane from us down, Sweetlands Lane i think its called.

TBH there are loads, just look in a Pegasus, or online Pegasus - plenty of choice!

Well would you believe it - I grew up in Linton very close to the lane you are describing! When we lived there it used to be all lovely big apple orchards and hop gardens and gradually watched it becoming more and more commercialised. I went back last year and drove past our old house and it has certainly changed! You are all making me a bit homesick!
