Just interested how everyone got on, we normally go but didn't this year.
We have a 3yr filly by Karandasj which should have gone, but can always go next year if they hold it!

Yes we went, we took Viona, previously awarded Ster with SSH Ine and Bart know Viona from previous SSH inspections and have always admired her but was well and truly over weight didnt move well at all, they want to see her back when fit but as a broodmare never know when that will be. LOL
We also took Whisty, obtained 70 for conformation and 70 for movement but as she was presented in the dressage category had to obtain 75 overall for movement but her low mark for canter pulled her down so was not awarded ster and quite right too.

Our Lupicor colt did very poorly but was assessed fairly and all comments for how he presented were accurate as always. He simply didn't move or shine, looked down in the dumps and certainly didn't show his usual powerful gaits.

Biggest mistake was hiring a venue that is no longer used in Scotland due to the appauling surface, the stoney surface caused several horses to crash to the floor as their hooves rolled over the stones, and many of the comments, "lacked supplness through the back" were IMO caused by horses tittering around on a bad surface.

Sadly the overall quality that was presented was poor and not a snapshot of the quality being bred in Scotland with few premiums or ster awarded with the majority of Scotlands breeders awaiting the SSH annual Gradings to be held at the end of September which is now being judged by inspectors from other studbooks, this year bty two inspectors from the NRPS.
Educational as always but lots of disapointed participants.

I was interested to see you had a Karendasj filly. What is she like and what type of mare is she out of? Interested because we 've used him this year.

Hi memo, we have had 3 karandasj and one in foal to karandasj.
The 5 year old is out of our Julio Mariner/Farn mare She is going to be a lovely horse who could eventually go dressage, eventing or showjumping she is going through few problems with teeth etc at min and late starter (our fault!). She moves well and has a bloody good jump, we took her to the KWPN gradings as 3 year old, she just missed out on her ster, our fault really could of been prepared better, and prob needed another year!
Our what would be 4yr colt out of our Kroongraaf/calvados mare we lost to colic as a 2 year old (very sad he was such a lovely chap) this mare is now back in foal to him.
Our 3 year old out of our dutch falco (animo) mare is just about to be backed she looks just like him but tall and leggy at min (going to be quite big!) she seems to have a nice attitude, soon find out!
I spoke to someone the other day who had ridden an offspring of karandasj and said it was really nice!

I took my 3 year old ferro mare to the warwickshire one, she got a ster so i was very pleased with her! I noticed that more people were around this year watching compared to last few years.

That was probably becuase there was a widely puiblicised breeders seminar taking place at the same time. which included a presentation about KWPN breeding policy, selection methods and stud book structure. This preceded the actual grading but of course many people stayed on to look at the horses too.
