Anyone going to Penrith on Friday?

Well did you go--I did

At the beginning almost everything sold amongst the Fell colts and fillies, then the buyers started to drift away and many lots withdrawn
Some of the foals were very newly weaned other sellers had weaned them last month, wormed and started them on hard feed
There was a lack of bedding in pens (foals should be able to lie down) and water buckets

Interestingly some of the Fell foals had microchips in ear tags--similar to the French meat horses.

The lowest priced Fell colt (90) appeared to have a sore eye
Buyers were clearly looking for certain bloodlines, Heltondale and Townend sold well
I think the 5yo stallion was top lot sold at 1050gns--bought by a Horse Gossip member to break to saddle for showing next year--he is very nice!!
The 3 Sec A's sold right at end were very cheap (45colt, 65 and 60 fillies)
The 3 young Exmoors all went to the same buyer i think
The Dales bred did not sell as well as the Fells but Lot numbers were later.

My friend bought the grey 2yo Fell gelding, she picked out a couple of colt foals but both went well beyond the limit she set.
