Hi

We are thinking of getting another dog to keep my GSD company. we went to see a 12 week old bitch puppy and she was delightful friendly temperament but like a tasmanian whirlwind!!! She literally bounced off the walls and you couldn't keep track of her whilst she did the rounds of the lounge, hall, kitchen, walls, top of settee etc. Is it normal that they are mental. Poor GSD would have a mental breakdown over her so we said no. Still like the idea of one, but after being a firm GSD person, and have no experience of other breeds not so sure what to go for. Don't want another big dog.... so anywone got any ideas??
 
Yes thats a typical staffie puppy!! Mine used to be like that as a puppy. They are lovely dogs, so funny, great with people and would go with anyone. One thing I would advise is to socialise it with other dogs at an early age as they can be aggressive with other dogs. Also beware of her getting stolen and never leave her in a car for that reason.
 
Ive known loads that are angels, even as puppies (except a LOT of chewing) but a friend got one exactly as you are describing that used to run round like the tazmanian devil... and it never grew out of it! At 1 1/2 years they'd had enough, and the bahaviourist couldnt help, and so they gave him to the animal rescue place. If you find a calm staff puppy im sure all will be well, they are the best dogs ever. We have 2 at the yard and they are angels.
 
my daughter had one who lived to be 13/14.he was a super dog.she has 2 more now,they have been brought up with children and hers are exellent pets.
she has also taken in a few unwanted ones over the years who she felt were in need and rehomed them to suitable homes.they have been nice dogs too.
 
I didn't think it was normal for any puppy to be that manic - it looked like it was on drugs. It literally tore round like a lunatic and literally bounced off the walls. I would still really like one but not if they are all like this...... who could cope. LOL.

If anyone knows of any puppies for sale let me know.
